Been looking at some late model Sea Rays, how is the wake for wakeboarding on these boats. They seem to be pretty cheap for an older model boat, and I am looking for a cheap boat, so how is the wake?

How much money do you have to spend on the boat?
Dont get a sea Ray for wakeboarding, the wake will not be very good.
The better choice is an older inboard that you could throw some weight in and have a good wake.
The boat Topic would be a better place to post this question.

Good to start on (I could get wake to wakes and occasionally wake to wake 180s), but as you get better you'll want a real wakeboarding boat.

The wake will not be good for wakeboarding. Get an older inboard.

yo i wakeboard of a 24 foot sea ray sundancer the one with a cabin. with the trim tabs all the way up and engine trim all the way down, the wake is big just a little washy. but if you have the driver turn a lil the wake is perfect. i am 13 years old i have no choice what a wakeboard on so i make the best of it. i can clear the wake consitantly on it, but the problem is the rope it ties down low, right above the swimplatform. so my dad and i made a harness and we tie to the 2 back cleats with is abbout as high as a ski pylon, hope with helps. any questions emial me mnecky@comcast.net ill try to put up some pictures

my uncle has a sea ray, and if you trim up like half way its not too bad but by no means great, but it does not drive well that way and is harder to maintain a constant speed....take a look at the 82-89 2001 nautiques, i hear if you throw some weight in them they can boost a pretty nice wake

Keep shopping for a nice inboard boat!
I won't say that say that my SeaRay 19' SUCKS!
but for what I have spent I Kodda Shooda Wooda had an Inboard!
2000 SeaRay 190 with 5.0L $18,000 in 2003 then we add Perfect Pass, Monster Tower, Bimini top, Swim Platform, 17P Hi-five prop, balast etc. etc.! I do not even want to do the math.
So we now have a decent wake but the I.O is still unsafe for people swimming at the stern "Yes with the engine off" no surfing because it's an I.O AND it still is not easy to drive to give someone a good pull! Even with the 17P prop there is bow rise at take-off that can make it hard to see and when you trim-up the I.O. the boat will porpose thru chop, so you have to remember to trim down in chop and at take-off.
So if you still really want a SeaRay I will give the full demo of ours and give you a GREAT DEAL!
I want a Centurion Avalanche! sniffle sniffle sniffle!!!!!

134 boats under 10k came up on the site:
http://onlyinboards.com/Search.aspx?Price=1;10000&State=&ID=&City=&Key=

link doesn't work right.... but do a search from 1 to 10,000 in price range which will eliminate boats with "Please Call" as the asking price.

Well only 5 out of those 134 are in Texas. Theres a 1982 Ski Nautique but they want 7,900. I'm sure they would come down, but not to where it would be worth it.

Drive outside your state. Its not that much to do for a new boat...50 bucks in gas vs. a Sea Ray. Obvious choice.

I think you are under estimating this boat. That $7,900 one in Texas is already a pretty good deal. If the stringers aren't rotten and he would come down a grand...you could throw about 2K in ballast in that boat, add a tower, and maybe an Acme 542 prop and you'll have a better wakeboard boat for around $10K than most people have that spent twice that.

I agree the color scheme is pretty "jacked" on that boat but its nothing a days work with a sander and sprayer couldn't fix...thats exactly what was done to the boat above. Here is the before pic of that boat...
