^^same can be said about some of the other brands^^ ...but yes i think they are... and the base of the bindings are identicle, but different from there up. Slingshot has been doing wake for 2 years + now and company just got into it. slingshot would be the "inovator" of flex tech, but with this said, i am sure company has a "legit" product, especially with the people behind them... or so this seems to be the going's-ons on other threads

Slingshot boards and Company boards are made in the same factory. They are made out of the same materials, but there are huge differences between Slingshot and Company boards. The shapes, sidewalls, flex, and rocker are all different. Every wakeboard on the market that is not a Slingshot or Company are made from the same material, and are all made in the same factories.

I personally don't like the "flex" boards, Ronix is the way to go. If I had to have a "flex" board it would be a Company board... Their stuff looks pretty sick.

Its really up to you "DA RIDER" whether you want flex or not; Slingshot or Company or ect... NOT ME. This is just a forum and the topic regards Flex boards, so its game on.... You don't see me hijacking other treads regarding .C.r... But thanks for caring.

What??? They're all made in the same factories? That's just not true. As Joe said, spreading lies about the competition is not a very good way to promote your products. Also, taking shots at respected members of the discussion board would probably be the next worst marketing move to make!

Look, I'm not trying to promote Slingshot on this forum, or bash on other board companies products, but seriously, Hyperlite has pressed multiple board molds for Gator, O'brien, Jobe/J-Star for many past years, with the exception of Liquid Force and CWB. Other than the Byerly Monarch, HL Sub 6, Ronix Dark Core, and the new LF Fly series which all use high grade PVC foam, all other boards made by any of these manufacturers are simply built using injected molded foam and wrapped in fiber glass. Nothing has changed since the introduction of the twin tip. Ride what you want, but give flex a try.

personally im waiting on humanoid. Ive heard some rumors about their products and have heard that they could be turning some heads. Im really tired of "big" companies. The best snowboards ive ever ridden are tiny companies such as Unity. I think slingshot makes a really good product, and company just looks to me to be very similar, i would like to see one in person to compare the shape and maybe sidewall. However, I hated company's secretiveness, sure it works, but it got really annoying to the point I was really let down when they "released" their stuff, which they havent totally done yet. So this year Im gonna go out on a limb and listen to the rumor mill, and try to find someone with a humanoid to demo, at least it will be supporting small business. Anybody else know anything about the new humanoid stuff or if there are any demo boards floating around out there kinda like slingshots short bus that has been traveling around?

thats exactly why, its all hype, and you bought into it. Ive studied marketing and thats all it is, any publicity ultimately is good publicity, and in my opinion they still have nothing innovative to show for their monthes of hype.

i said Id rather demo humanoid which ive heard that they have some good stuff coming. I heard this however from a totally unaffiliated source and there is no hype or anything over the company. As for limiteds, its been going on for a long time. Hyperlite released some of Byerly's first shapes as limiteds (green one with wood grain and soldiers and american flag on bottom) They arent worth anything more, in 5 years they all end up on ebay for 50 bucks. But even if it werent about having a board thats worth something, just release them all without the hype and let the product speak for itself, this is something that I think really helped slingshot when they got started. On another note I think this whole thread is pretty interesting and quite entertaining. I kinda see where all parties are coming from. Doesnt every sport kind of have the rogue company that hates the industry and how its run. If slingshot is going to be that I think it could be interesting for the sport and maybe change some things. Ive always disliked the cliques in this sport and a company that is against the norms and normal hype and bs would be cool. Just havent seen it yet.

What i interpret Kevin Hoyes thoughts as, is---> He feels kinda let down by the Company gear. He was expecting a product equal to the hype of the advertisements and secretive vibes that the media style was throwing... kinda like that movie Cloverfield (good movie but more people were excited leading up to it then after it)... Simply put, he just doesn't get the same vibe from the gear as the media leading up to it. (am i correct?) Humanoid has done a few adds here and there and teases, but not like company (heck, no one is like company when it comes to media) I would imagine he likes how their graphics and style stand out from the rest of ALL the companies (just check the website www.humanoidwake.com !). Slingshot was, in ways, much like this when they started. a tease here and there, especially with that one paged web site with the animation of the rider flexing a board with his hands that was up for 6 months it seemed, but beyond this they just let things fly mostly by word of mouth. and their graphics were different too,... some liked it some didn't and as for company's release of products, i think he might be thinking more about how difficult it is vs not existing at all. it is a little difficult right now to get a hold of company gear (or any '09 gear for that matter). and there is not much more than a blog on the company web site for now. [But, i bet it will be killer, noting the time they must have been and are spending on it] --------------------------------------------------------------- As for innovations since twin-tip, i would say that flex is definitely the BEST one since in my opinion, however, I do stop to pay homage to very crucial and influential innovations along the way: * Wide Boards * 3 stage rocker * multi fins/molded in fins * and any others i missed --------------------------------------------------------------- As for Humanoid, you can find out more here (in order of newest to oldest thread) http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/652496.html?1229529168 (newest) http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/639612.html http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/630472.html (oldest) (Message edited by wakerider111 on December 17, 2008)

fortunately for company wake, kevin doesn't speak for everyone since there's a ton of people wanting to check out company's line-up. quote:Slingshot was, in ways, much like this when they started. a tease here and there, especially with that one paged web site with the animation of the rider flexing a board with his hands that was up for 6 months it seemed, but beyond this they just let things fly mostly by word of mouth.
and this is why a lot of people aren't stoked on it. marketing...check it out sometime.

Advertisement is funny (not that i have studied it... i am just going by observation here) Largely, people are Both impressed and un-impressed with advertisements/media/hype sometimes it happens simultaneously and in other cases they happen one after the other. It all comes down to interpretation. sometimes the end product doesn't match the expectation built up inside even if it was not realistic... i mean, why else do manufactures have to put silly disclaimers on super hero suits and such (this being an extreme example of course) I bet Company was just trying to BLAST OFF with a big bang and balls of fire till they could just coast at a nice speed in space once out of the atmosphere... so to speak ;) ...sorry for the tangent...

All of the hating I hear going on is by people who are basing their opinions completely on Cosmetics...Ride one. Saying all flex boards are the same is not a fair statement either. Thats like saying a Burton snowboard rides exactly the same as a Forum snowboard because they are made in the same factory and they are made with a wood core. To make your own opinion you have to ride the different boards with flex and then decide which you like best.

even i feel slightly let down in similar ways as kevin, but nonetheless i am VERY HAPPY to see flex be progressing/ expanding) I personally was expecting/ interpreting-in-my-head a "stiff" version and a "softer flex" version of boards (i thought i read this somewhere once), but it seems this took on more of a slingshot-like definition where the 3-stage model is the "stiffer one" and the continuous is more "softer" which is more or less a result of the rocker pattern and not so much the materials used... again, this is MY uh... RE-interpretation AFTER the ads are over and the product is out (forgive me if i interpret it wrong) Given a chance, I'd love to try one! (But, living in li'l ol' Page Arizona, i doub't i'll have a chance to try one, unless someone brings one to Bro Stock) I was lucky to be going to college next to one of slingshot's biggest supporters, Utah Water Sports, when they released their product. AND equally lucky that so many kool people were willing to take a stranger on their boat ;) on a similar, PERSONAL point of view and experience, word of mouth advertisement can have the same effect on others that company's ads have had on people like Kevin. I know of one or two people that were feeling miffed by my PERSONAL experiences trying slingshot despite all efforts of honesty on my part. But i also know of a lot of people who have been helped and are grateful too. people read between the lines and interpret a lot, it's our nature. and i think sometimes i try too hard to cover my (and sometimes other people's bases), which is why my writing style seems to be so long and drawn out... also i just like being descriptive ;) hopefully my interpretation of kevin's words, or my own words don't start this thing rolling further/faster. Thats like saying a Burton snowboard rides exactly the same as a Forum snowboard because they are made in the same factory and they are made with a wood core. All I am trying to say is not all flex is the same. Two exact boards with the exact same core profile made from two different trees (Same type of wood) Will ride differently. I tested tons of proto types in the exact same shape and size that all rode different. Its just the truth. Even the amount of sidewall material will change the way the board rides. On a side note. You should be able to get any Company board in any size with some Co. Bindings within about two weeks. Enjoy. (Message edited by bizz on December 17, 2008)

First and last D i ever got in a class ("D's get degrees") and proud of it! Hey everyone...Just a few comments really quick to keep things fresh... What some might view as hype, we simply see as expressing our commitment and investment into the industry, and into the future (Advertising etc.) This does not mean that you have to do it the same way as us to "show" that your committed. It's just how we like to do things. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion here...Not a problem...(We can't help but say that we like that you've noticed us though. ) With that said, and putting all the technical stuff aside...All we really want people to know is that we're simply in the business of preserving the magic, and pushing things forward...and that's about it...It's quite simple really. So if you ever want to know what's at our core, and what is fueling us, there it is... Sidenote #1 Magic = Warm fuzzies when you see calm water just about anywhere, when you watch a good video part, and when you finally dial in your perfect sticker job on your 3rd try. (Just to name a few.) Sidenote #2 Keep your eyes open for some new info dropping Jan 1st. We've been busy! Sidenote #3 Money does not always keep a wakeboard company in business...Magic does. Co Crew!

Company, Way to put things in perspective. The fact that at 1:31am you hopped on WW to say "its all about the magic" says a lot. Your here and doing what you do because you love this stupid sport just like the rest of us! You get all pumped up when you see buttery water and wonder if you could put a boat on that pond/river/lake. Down for the cause just like the rest of us! This IS something the industry has some of but needs more of. Cant wait to get Company on our walls, our customers are jazzed too! Hi-5

company...few questions...no warranty for breakage due to heel dents? that gives me very cold feet about buying a company board. Most boards with a PVC core have a tendency to get heel dents pretty easily, at least mareks an monarchs, and that's where I've seen most monarchs break. The ronix dark cores have an extra glass biscuit under the heel and toe zones which prevent heel dents, and I have yet to see one of those break. What If the board delams due to de-tuning the rails? would that void the warranty?

Great discussion on Company vs. Slingshot vs. The Other Company's. I bought my wife the LF Diva and was very upset when I got it home to find out that it was made in another country. Arab country to be exact. My only wish to both Company, Slingshot, LF and the others is that since this is a great American Spot and I know there are riders in other countries, make the boards in OUR country. Keep OUR people working and SUPPORT OUR Economy. I rather pay a few extra dollars for a board that I know is made here in the US and to save money on a board made overseas. I have a feeling that this will spread into something more than it is with people asking me if I have a TV and it is made overseas, etc... I get that. But at least 50% of the people in the world have TV's. There is not 50% of the people in the world Boarding. Just my .02 cents worth. Thank you.

Luke: All great questions... Just know that we're absolutely going to take care of all of our customers. We're here to keep you on the water, riding as often as possible. We've got your back... ______________________ A-dub: Yes, you are correct...We also dip every board in white chocolate before it goes out in order to encapsulate the magic during the shipping process to your local retailers. Once you break the silky smooth chocolaty shell to reveal your new Co Wakeboard, you will feel the magic spread throughout the room very quickly. There's no stopping it. If your not careful, you may burst into song and dance. We've seen it happen. _____________________ Colombian Surfer: Long distance Hi-5 to you...We love our country, and love building our boards here. We know that other brands save a lot of money by building overseas, but we think that there's nothing better than being able to go to the factory to work on boards, and be home that same night to eat dinner with our families. More time with families = Better boards. (Just our opinion.) AMERICA!!! _____________________ On another note, we woke up to about 6 inches of snow on the ground today. Very cool. Co Crew! (If anyone ever has any technical questions that they would like to have answered pronto, please email us at info@companywake.com. Thanks!)

I'm a little surprised at some of these "factual" comments regarding other companies construction techniques, material usage, and factory locations on here....

By Kyle (Slingshot) (kylenautique) Slingshot boards and Company boards are made in the same factory. They are made out of the same materials, but there are huge differences between Slingshot and Company boards. Every wakeboard on the market that is not a Slingshot or Company are made from the same material, and are all made in the same factories. From the lines of Billy Madison: Mr. Kyle, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. Ha ha.... I had to. Just kidding around yo.
