In the early 2000s my family owned a 98 sport nautique. Im not quite sure how long it was but it was inboard and was a great boat. When my dad was younger he was a huge slalomer. We are considering a new nautique, but are unsure exactly what we want. Is the ski 216 decent at all for wakeboarding. We are unsure whether we want to stick to an inboard or get a v drive. It isnt down to price as much as getting the best boat for wakeboarding that will still impress a seasoned skier.

216v or 211 would both be okay....
I hear the Mastercraft 214v is great for everything too

211 if you want just the essentials. You can't really custom order the 211 anymore. It is now the price point boat in the CC line. Still an awesome boat though.

If you want all the extras and flash that come with a loaded boat look at the 216V.

Like I said, features over price. I will def check out the 211. Can you choose which tower you want or do they come stock with what they have. the 216v is fugly, but ive never seen that tower style in person on the water

I believe nautiques have 3 different tower options. If you build one on Nautique's website it will give you your options.

I don’t believe I have any personal experience with a great crossover that will do both jobs as impressive ski tow boat and impressive wake tow boat. You might keep looking.

I saw an 216V and 230 yesterday in KC, both featuring the Roswell tower along with a custom Bimini (not sure brand, made in Orlando, and there are models of it for several mfrs. not just CC).

In person, that Roswell tower looks good on the 216V, but incredible on the 230 ... or, the 230 is simply an incredible boat.

Only one tower offered on the Crossover 211 and the Crossover 216 only comes with the new tower

Jay T,

The 211 can be ordered with the original FCT-1 that has always been on the 211 or the FCT-2 Titan.

The Super Air line can be ordered with all three towers, as well as the 236.

216v only comes with the Roswell and the Ski line only comes with the FCT-1.

IMO there's only one way to go 210 SANTE it has the best wake board, wake surf and has one of the best slalom wakes of any V drive. Now Nautique has some deep deals on new 07 and 08s.

Well my dad would need some serious convincing to not buy a nautique. We will probably check out the crossover 211 and maybe air 210. Haha and if all else fails he'll just get a ski 196 when I graduate.

210 or bust.

Your Dad is a smart man.

I agree with Pete, but I rarely pull a skier these days.

Is that true, the 210 has one of the best slalom wakes of any V-drive? I never heard that before.

"Is the ski 216 decent at all for wakeboarding."

Yes. It is a rebranded version of a boat us old schoolers used to COVET - the Sport Nautique. it's not worth ruling out.

As for the 210 providing a good slalom wake, I would say that's entirely false. Unless you love rotten slalom wakes.

The 211, 216 and 216v would be better from the CC lineup, and I know for certain that the VTX and VLX have better slalom wakes than 210's.

Or you like a little air with speed. I'm waiting to hear a report on the 216V as cross-over boat.

Eric
I have checked out the VLX with wake hull its a
wake boat not much for slalom. I am not saying
the 210 is a comp boat I am saying it has the best overall wakes we like to do all and need a boat that will do all.

I mean my old sport was direct drive, so maybe the ski 216 will be decent. Hell that sport could throw a nice wake.

lol there's no way the 210 has a great slalom wake...not behind my boat that's for sure

Check out the vlx or vtx with a diamond hull. Ive heard you can not tell the differance until you hit 30mph.

It's interesting how things change. Master Craft's slogan used to be "What Wake?". Kneeboarding took over and the 2001 and Sport Nautiques were good all around rides. I rode the skerfer behind a Nautique Excell, it was the only one I ever remember seeing on the water. Now the Excell resembles the most common configuration sold today and kneeboarding out. What's next?
