I rode the fish last year and really enjoyed it. I was sad to see it go from LF's line this year. I was told that they worked on a replacement called the Piranha (a mellower, everyday rider), but in the end decided that the legacy of the fish was the technology and shaping it spawned in several of LFs new rides.

From a marketing stand-point. I know that it had a faithful following, but that it didn't hit big numbers.

I rode a 137 Fish last year and loved it. I never could figure out how to ride switch with it. I think the board had some great design features and landed smooth. I would like to buy up a 133 for my arsenal, and see how I would like a shorter Fish. I rode the 137 because I bought it for my main board and I am tall at 6'4".

Fish was the super wide one. The Fish is my favorite LF board.

What was the deal with the fish? What did you all like so much about it? I haven't been on one, but I'm thinking about getting a closeout...

I liked the width, the landings and the soft rail through the center, it is loose flat, but locked in when on edge. Alot of people thinks it spins well, but I don't have any spins in my bag of tricks more than 180's. It has nice smooth pop too and has mid range speed.

It had that variable edge on it, and it spins super fast,... to my knowledge, its short, low swing wieght. I say all this but its all speculation, never got a chance to ride it but I really want to!

Company website: LiquidForce.com

Company comments: Unique versatility…its shape is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Where it really shines is the ability to turn in tight spaces. Whether cranking into the wake, leaving the wake, or in the air, the short yet wide profile rotates like no other. If you’re learning new tricks and spins, crave powerful turns, or simply need a wide board, the Fish can shred like no other. Throwing buckets!
Performance “Full” Shape - Down Size 10cm-Short and wide. Surface area focused in the middle of the board for un-paralleled pop, minimal swing weight, easy to maneuver.
Spiral “V” Double Concave Hull-Not the standard “V” Hull. The “V” shaped hull spirals or turns down progressively towards the tail. Helps initiate turns and generates turning power. Softens landings by breaking the water at first contact. Feel the difference.
“C-4” Fin Setup-Four canted fins angled for effectiveness and placed for precision. Fast, loose, and have the holding power to carve like mad.
Lifted Variable Edge-There’s no catch - Lifted and soft in the middle - Forgiving when neutral, spins faster off the wake, lands still spinning - Sharpens as it nears the tail - Locks and holds edge into the water when weight is transferred into the edging position - Clean and catch free sliding.
Classic Rocker-Smooth, easy going rocker you’ve grown to love. The original fast approach simply feels good at any level and is appreciated by all.

Ethan,

I hope you know you size down with the fish compared to your normal board length.
Old    justinh            05-14-2008, 7:07 AM Reply
A-dub. Not as much as you think. I know all of the marketing said 10cm shorter, but I disagree if you are looking for a daily rider. I'm 5'9" 150-155 and rode the 133 (I ride the byerly monarch 54 now--137cm). If I could have gotten my hands on a 137 that is what I would have been riding. I tried the 125 and the 129 and they ate me alive.

The, "fish as a second board," marketing really hurt the fish. It was a cool tactic, but it labeled the fish as a freak-board.

Thats good to know. So you wouldn't downsize at all? What do you like about the board? Are the landings super hard? Agree that the marketing pigeon holed it as a second board, not sure how many people rock second boards, even a roam. I may just grab a 137 and try it now.
