So this is a question for those of you with towers. How come some mounts come with rubber spacers and others mount directly metal on gel coat? What are the pros and cons of either method of mounting? I bought a Sky High Pro X tower and it does not have rubber spacers, but I noticed that others (like the monster tower), have rubber spacers. The sky high people claim they are not needed because their mounts are precision milled perfectly flat.

After just installing my monster, I would say you would want the rubber because your hull is not perfectly flat. Just my thought. They also absorb some shock to prevent spider cracking.

Correction, flat, black pvc.
it is black pvc, same stuff that the pipe is made of. I used it because thats what the Correct Craft dealer told me they were putting under their install jobs. Not really affected by heat or pressure of tight bolts. } Its close to 1/8 inch thick smooth on one side, texture on other. I have a piece but only enough for one or maybe two tower feet.
