ive kinda got the itch to get a newer boat. i love my current boat, a 96 prostar 190 with perfect pass, tower, automatic ballast, and pro audio set up. ive started to think i should upgrade to something a little bigger. an open bow would be nice. there were several times this past summer when i couldnt invite as many people as i wanted(im really limited to about 3-4 people). i dont mind not having people on the boat since it usually increases riding time but it wouldve been nice, at times to accomodate more people.

my boat obviously is paid off and its nice not having any type of payment. i dont think i'd want to spend much more than 25k. ive done a little research and im not sure i can get something as headache free as my current set up. automatic ballast is absolutely the best. not to mention i'll take my wake over most other boats. however with that said running close to 2k in ballast im limited to about 70 feet at 21 mph, otherwise the wake washes out. decisions decisions

If you just want that new boat smell, thats one thing. But, if you have to leave friends at home thats a good reason to start looking.

I have seen some very nice 1999-2000 Prostar 205V's with the newer style zeroflex towers already installed for somewhere in the 20-23k range. Find one of those in clean condition, build your own auto ballast system, and you should have exactly what you are looking for.

Also, look into some of the older Super Sport Nautiques. There are some for 20k on correctcraftfan.com with towers and ballast. The super sport is the same hull as the SAN 210. The only difference is that they did not come with towers, PP, or ballast. Add those extra and you have a SAN minus the stickers.

leo ive been looking for a super sport. i think that would be my boat of choice if i were to upgrade. ive not seen that site you mentioned, ill check that out. i also like the 205's, ive ridden on older x-stars and really liked the wake. ive heard good things about the sanger v 210's but have never ridden behind one.

I upgraded from a 96 prostar 190 to a 2001 MC209. It was by far a huge jump in terms of room and comfort. If I was to do it again, I would not have gone with the 209 (also known as the X9) because of the lack of options (no ballast, no tower, no system). But the beauty of the upgrade was having an open bow, it made all the difference in the world. After some time I was able to add everything I wanted, but I am not sure I would do it that way again. I would recommend waiting until you can afford the boat that you want. If $25K is not enough to get that boat I would continue to save until you can get exactly what you want. I would recommend allocating "an imaginary monthly payment" to savings each month until you can pay cash for the boat that gives you what you want.

one thing to note about the early 205v and super sports. They both have a 1 piece pad over the back of the boat. Maybe that's not a big deal to you, but for me that would make the sanger v 210 much more apealing.
