I know there are lots of guys revamping their systems. I just came across a lot of JL 12W6 subwoofers, they are new old stock if I buy 10+ I can get them for about $100 each.

These are not the high end W7s that Grant and a few others use, they are a less expensive variety. I have seen them on e-bay in the $150 range. These will probably be a good match for the plastic subwoofer enclosure that I am using, they are another $100.

I think for $200 plus shipping this would be a pretty good sub setup. What do you guys think?

Mike, what ohm and RMS is that speaker? I have a Rockford Fosgate 501bd that will do 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms. Would that amp drive that sub OK? If so, count me in on one of those.

I'm interested in a sub only. PM me if you get enough volunteers and we'll see if it can work.

Big Dog check out http://jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/W6v2_MAN.pdf JL's owners manuals tell yah everything you need to know. A 500 watt RMS amp will do the trick. Yes these aren't high end W7s but they 12W6 is a very high end subwoofer in comparison with other brands. $100 new is an excellent deal.

That's not the right woofer, it's this one:
http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/10_12W6AE_MAN.pdf

It's advertised as having two 8 ohm voice coils so they can be run in parallel for a 4 ohm load. According to the manual it states 6 ohm voice coils so I am not sure if a 4 ohm stable mono amp will run them.

send me a message if you are still interested: mikeskiw@gmail.com

Mikeskiw,

How big is your box? (will it fit in my storage compartment under the glove box?)

The box is plastic with a front port that is not required. It is 12.75H x 12.5W x 9.75D, the ported nose adds another 9" to the depth.

Where can you find a box like that?

Hi Guys,

I have placed the order for 10 of the JL subs, the warehouse is holding them waiting my instructions for shipping. I need to have your money by Friday morning or they will ship them to me, if they come to me then you will have to pay shipping twice.

They will be shipped out DHL ground, shipping is $20 for the first sub and $10 for each additional.

Send me your order via paypal to mikeskiw@gmail.com, include you shipping address and if it's a residence.

Mike

ps you can check my feedback, 1mikeski e-bay if you have any worries, 162+ 100% positive and counting

Mikeski,

Can you elaborate on why I should get one of your boxes? Will it save shipping? I think I may want to get one of your boxes, the funnel would be nice to protect the sub too.

I just showed the box as an fyi.

It's just what I am using and it seems to work pretty well.

I don't make them and frankly I think it's way overpriced for a little plastic box. I can't imagine that they cost much more to make then a plastic bucket? Unfortunately, I cannot find a cheaper/easier alternative then the e-bay source. Its patented = overpriced.

Mike
