I just picked up a two-port heater for my 04 VLX.

The heater is made by Heatercraft. The switch they include with it is a 4 position rotary switch. (OFF, LOW, MED, HIGH)

I have unused switches in the dash that I'd like to take advantage of. I'm wondering how Malibu wires the heaters OEM? Does anyone have pictures or can describe the heater switch operation? It appears that the Carling Switch that Malibu uses is only available in a 3 position. I could wire it (LOW-OFF-HIGH) with low being the switch's lowest position. This eliminates the heater's MED setting. Then I'd just need to get the appropriate face plate from the dealer - unless someone knows where to get the pre-printed faceplates online?

Here's a link to the Carling Technologies' Contura V switches on Mouser's web site.

Nope, that's exactly how Malibu wires them, you lose one fan speed, but who really needs three anyway?

Order the switch from Mouser (or Waytek), and get the actuator from your dealer.
