well, the memphis ST-500D amp died again (broke a month ago and then I "fixed" it by replacing all the FETs)

It got replaced today by a JL 500/1 amp. it hits harder and sounds tighter. I am a happy camper.

Is that second amp a memphis amp? I hooked up a brand new memphis amp in my boat and it let all the smoke out. They gave me another one and it is working good. Are you having problems with memphis stuff????

the new amp is a JL audio amp. it blows the memphis away. hits harder and tighter. got to put it through its paces today out on the boat. The JL obviously pulls more current as I smoked a 40A fuse when i was seeing how loud i could get it to go before clipping (calls for a 50A but I only have 40A at the moment, didn't want to put in a 60A) that was before i took the boat out.

the ST2004 4 channel memphis amp still works like a champ and sounds pretty good.

I am about 60% sure that the memphis sub amp got damaged while jumping a SANTE and I forgot to disconnect the amps. it died the next day. It also might have occured from a loose speaker wire shorting. check the tightness of your wire connections periodically!!

hopefully that is the case and you won't have anything to worry about!

i think ive got about 300 hours on my 2 rockfords and they have blown a few speakers, mainly my fault, but they are still rocking. Just added the third rockford on saturday, sole purpose in life is to rock the tower speakers and so far its doing its job superbly... all 450 watts worth!
