Hey guys,
I got to teach a buddy to surf this summer and he is in love. He wants to buy a surf boat, that is decent for wake board for his wife. He is a regular side rider, and gave me the budget of 50k. I have my own opinions on this but i figured i would ask. I told told him spend maybe 42-45k, so the rest can be used to buy new surf boards and gear!
Any thoughts, he was going to look at a moomba helix, but i told him not its so small. I like the mojo out of the moombas.
His only rule is it has to be above 2012
thanks!

I have 21 ft, and he wants bigger then mine. Mine is older wake board and i hold only 11, i believe his crew would be like mine 6-10. He doesnt have a crew yet HA, he just went out with me a lot and loves it. i would say 22 ft would be ideal, but 21 not bad. I know the newer boats have better seating for more people but still 22 would be ideal.
I love the axis t22 .

Quick search on onlyinboards and best case scenario I saw was some A22's between 2012-14 and a couple T22's. All were between $45K-$50K.

If it were me either Tige 22 or 24ve, or maybe a newer rz2. Great waves and great boats.

Some of the newer sub 21' boats are bigger inside than older 21'+ boats. We went from a 2006 Moomba LSV 21' 6" traditional bow to a 2014 Moomba Mondo 20' 6" squared / pickle fork. It's a deeper and wider boat. I would have him look at the Mondo, Helix, and Craz.

I've got a loaded 2015 Axis T23 in Nashville that I'd let go of for about $60k... and I'd throw in a board or two and some jackets... Wakeboard and surf wake are awesome. https://www.onlyinboards.com/2015-Ax...see-78321.aspx

2010 and newer MB F21 or B52 would be killer and hit right in the low 40 range until you get a 13 or newer and they start to top 50 but that big deep V rides awesome and puts out!!! A wave

There are many excellent suggestions here! I'd also like to put a +1 for a Surf Gate equipped Axis. They can get one that's pretty new and the wakes/waves are great. The T22 would be an awesome boat for both sports and I doubt they would ever out progress what the boat can offer.
Cheers!

I’m all about my MB but it had GSA added to it which is what makes my wave insane. Listed wave is good but nothing like the fully weighted GSA wave.

So as of right now, he is getting talked into a 2013 supra sunport with 25 hours. Its a clean boat,i personally never ridden behind one or seen one surf . The deal on it is killer for the price. However i dont know if it can surf well. Any thoughts? I still think he should go axis 2016 fo same price. or the brand new 17 axis a20 for the same price. any advice on that for surfing.

Sure hope he demo's that boat before buying, think he will be sorely disappointed with the surf wave. A "great" deal wont be a great deal if it does not do what he wants and then he has trouble selling it cause others know its not a surf boat. IMO, get a surf boat, so much better out there, obviously you know that....make sure he does too.
Another discussion is on a 2013 with only 25hrs and the potential problems of a 5yr old boat sitting without use for 5yrs, boats dont like to sit unused. Wonder if they didnt use it cause it did not surf well, lol

I agree, we caught up last night for drinks. He told me its because his fiance found the boat and really liked it. I think i have him knowing not to get it. Im taking him to see a a20 2017 for same price, and also a z1 hopefully soon. He is really wanting a surf boat, he had to much fun on mine. I hope he gets one because it will be better then MINE!!! We are then going to make some more boards for his boat. Hows your soul craft working out?

Loving the Soulcraft and planning to get another one soon....I got another 80hrs of surfing in last summer after seeing you at Lake Norris and we rode almost every week till Thanksgiving at LKN. Gonna schedule another trip this coming summer with family, rent a houseboat this time and chill for a few days. Let me know if you arrange another get together!
Z1 and the A20 sounds like a good boat and hard to beat the warranty you would get on an almost new boat. Good peace of mind when you spend that kind of money!
