our lift swings away from the font of the slip, and when the boat nose is 1" from the front of the slip, it's centered.

If your lift is already mounted, just get the boat centered on lift, drop it in the water and mark on the dock with permanent marker right were the driver side rope cleat should be. So next time you pull lin the slip, just put your hand out, grab the marked area, stay in your seat, drink beer while your buddy turns on the lift. or more pimp, get a remote control for the air pump.
