I have the Wet Sounds 60 three-some setup (Pro485 and a pair of Pro60s) mounted on my MariStar 210. They are very loud from the back of the boat, and can be heard from quite a distance away, but I am not impressed by the volume while wakeboarding. I had a SoundStream Rubicon 502 on the pair of Pro60s (2ohm bridged) and another one on the Pro485 (4ohm bridged). Last weekend one of the amps started cutting out and has now stopped working.

Let’s say I have ~$500 to spend, what is my best option?

1.) Run all tower speakers from the remaining good amp and buy a FAE. I will then buy new amps when I have the funds to do so.

2.) Buy a new amp now (looking at the JL MHD750/1) to replace the one that went bad.

I just got into surfing and think I will buy the FAE at some point anyway, but thought it might help me with two problems at once right now. What do you think?

I was going to post something similar Jon. I have a pair of Pro 80's and am sort of in the same position as you. If I had a set amount of cash, which would be more beneficial for more sound to the rider, another pair of Pro 80's or FAE to cut down on the engine noise.

The FAE takes alot of the deep noises from the engine away. Thus making your system have more. I think the FAE should be first then speakers. I love my FAE!

Just a ?, when getting on the swimstep from the water I sometimes kick my legs (so do small kids). How close would my feet come to hitting the end of the FAE? Are they pretty far back from the edge of the swimstep?

FAE - best choice for the kids (less CO2) and best choice for the stereo (less noise by at least 50%)

My kids have never kicked the FAE while swimming. It is up under the swim deck pretty far.

I called Thursday, looks like it will be about $420 shipped. Cheaper than a new amp. Hope you guys know what you have talked me into.

Lol, u WON'T be disappointed, best $420 u will spend on your boat. Manufacturers should b putting these on as stock, even if they have the cats on them simply 4 the noise reduction.

Has any installed the FAE on an X2? If so, do you pictures or suggestions?

I would definately go with the FAE first but also make sure you do not underpower your WetSounds running them on one amp because they could blow if they are underpowered. Wetsounds makes some pretty nice amps now as well that are paired up with their speakers that you may to check out. FAE made a huge difference in sound reduction which in turn allows me to run my stereo at a lot lower volume to hear it great from behind the boat.

I'd enjoy and new amp more than FAE. At least you'll be able to drown out the engine with more volume!
