im looking to by a new boat that is reliable, well built and makes a good wake, I consider myself an intermediate rider and my friends are all around that same level. Id say the boat would be used 50 percent of the time for wakeboarding an the other just crusin an hanging out, with a lil bit of skiing thrown in there. Right now the centurion falcon v air warrior and the elite v c4 air warrior have really caught my eye but i would like to get your guys opinion

If you are on the westcoast there are some Sanger V215's for right around 40k. In my opinion you are better off buying something a year or 2 old. There are 05-07 Mastercrafts and Malibus for right around 40k. Another good option new would be a Moomba Mobius LSV or a 2009 Outback V.

What model mastercraft an malibus could you get for that price

an yeah im on the west cost im not really sure about buying a used boat especially if im spending that kind of money

There are only a couple options for you then. 40k barely even buys you an entry level price point wakeboard boat now a days. The used market is very buyer friendly right now. The other really good option is non-current inventory.

I have seen a brand new 07 moomba Mobius LSV for 34 listed on SF craigslist. There are Sanger V215's on Sacramento, SF, Portland and Seattle Craigslist all the time for 32-40k brand new. Mission RV and Marine has a 2008 Sanger V210 for 30k brand new. There are a bunch of Supreme vdrives new for 30-35 on CL. I think you can get a decently equipped 09 Moomba Mobius LSV for 40k.

As far as MC and Malibu go there isn't anything new. Mission RV and Marine has a 2006 VLX. My roommate has a 2005 VLX for sale for 39k. Mission also has a couple Centurion sv220's for 40k.

Really here im looking for a good quallity boat that will last along time, im not looking to trade up in 3 to 4 years so im going for something that wont give me that many problems as long as i do the regular maintence

My 3 year old Supreme has never had a problem - we run it hard, lots if weight when surfing - tons of people when partying. I love it - if I can afford it this year I will have the 226.

Well, they all have chevy blocks. The sanger, centurion and supreme all use Mercruiser. Moomba, supra, malibu and mastercraft use Indmar. Nautique uses PCM and I am not sure what Tige uses. They all should have the same reliability as far as the engine and tranny goes. From what I have heard Sanger's are extremely well built boats that have virtually zero problems. They use proven components and put together everything very well. They lack some flash, but I still think they are a very good looking boat. I am starting to think that the newer high end boats with tv screens and lights everywhere and custom billet aluminum are getting ridiculous. I would rather have something like the sanger with simple gauges and generic switches that are cheap to replace is the way to go. The components will last longer and if something does happen you don't have to drop a grand on an LCD screen or custom switch panel.

I know there's some Brand New moombas on the west coast going for under $40,000. Yeah they're no Bu or MC, but they've got the same motors and they're much less money.

yeah i checked out the sanger v215 an it looks like a really nice boat thats well made i think im leaning more towards that now and yeah i dont care about bling just a waste of money to me i just want to have something that looks good not flashy and will last an i think the sanger is that boat

The Sangers are incredibly well built boats. It seems the two manufacturers that have caught your eye are Centurion and Sanger, of the two I'd go with Sanger all the way!! They take classic boat lines, add a simple yet plush interior and plop it on top of tried and trued hulls that handle chop and carve sweet wakes. I know that sounds lame but my buddy has a 01 V210 with 750 hours that pulls like a champ. If you can get the ProFlight Chubby tower, burly look and incredibly sturdy if you are stacking speakers on the tower.

yeah i was strongly leaning towards the ceturion but after looking at the sangers it sounds like it is the boat for me thanks for the input

Calabria will build the boat to order, It won’t be a left over. And unlike the Sangers and Supremes, Calabria doesn’t use wood for their stringers, floor and interior components. It also has the fastest filling and emptying ballast system on the market and you’ll never have to worry about replacing a ballast pump.

What? Supremes have all fiberglass stringers and floors.

Remember that TW. Sanger's are the only ones with wood. When you test drive them you'll feel why they build them that way, and why it would be nice if others did.
Lots of the others have very nice features too, but Tim's comment makes it sound like the wood's is a negative when it's not. AquaBeam is a pretty sophisticated material.

....if I had the choice of getting an entry level boat for 40,000 or a fully decked out luxury model used for 40,000 i would go used. Most used only have low hours on them.....not a big deal....much better value and other than the hours the boat will look new.............something to think about.

and yes thats what I did ....but I got the boat I wanted rather than settling for a boat that was second choice.

I have the centurion Avalache and i've never had a problem with it, but if you want a very good boat thats used that is around 40k then i would go with a Mastercraft x-45 or find an x-star, and even if it used its prob. best if it doesnt have a lot of hours on the boat.

Really not looking for a used boat. What are the advantages/disadvantages of a centurion vs a Sanger?

I know where you can get a brand new, leftover Malibu Wakesetter VTX in your price range. PM for details.

You should be able to get a well equipped 08 V215 for right around 40K I bought mine (06) for that with quite a few options and extras. The wood stringer's crap is so tired they make the boat ride the way it rides in good and bad water conditions and they come with a lifetime warranty.

Supreme Boats are all solid composite construction - Sangers (except the V237) use wood stringers.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       02-07-2009, 8:19 AM Reply
Isn't composite just an option on them for the people that are afraid of wood? You know Medorthophobes!

I was told recently that the top three inboard companys were(in no particular order) MC, Malibu, and Skiers Choice(Supra/Moomba)....

My vote if you want bang for the buck = Moomba

You could get a 07/08 XLV for prob around 40k, thats 23ft of boat with an awesome wake. Hard to get more boat for your money.

Moomba LSV's have been going at boat shows NEW for like 34k.... then you have a little left in pocket for extras, gas, whatever

The Supreme is a great boat. My buddy has had a V220 for five years and never had a problem with it. Built like a battle ship and very tight. I just picked up a brand new 2007 V208 from the dealer in Portland Oregon for $ 29,500.
