Wife told me to ask how long should you wait to ride after child birth. Our son is due late May/Early June and she's wanting to ride as soon as she can. Anyone have any suggestions? I did a search but couldn't find anything.

Ha Ha hunny! (This is Mrs. Tank) Usually she will be released w/ a vaginal delivery after 6 weeks and 8 after a C-section. I had vaginal deliverys w/ both kids and was back to normal in those 6 weeks- ready to ride. I rode pregnant till about the 6 or 7th month, but then just too much bouncing for the baby.

Brandon - Doctors will say a minimum of six weeks to resume any physical exercise after having a baby. Hope that helps.

Frew - You're killing me. On a side note.. we're coming down in May and we'd really like to come see you guys. What is your schedule like during the week?

Thanks everyone.

-Tank, that's kind of the schedule I had in mind, maybe two days just so I don't look like an a-hole.

Sorry just thought about that. Not implying you are one, just that my family isn't so understanding.

I would let her heal for at least a day till you make her drive.

Best to wait until after she delivers and has the follow up appointment to determine the return.

Yeah, guess I need to install perfect pass so she can hold the baby.

Phantom: I agree. If her water breaks while she's driving the wake might be out of balance a little. Thats and the bilge mess could be bad.

First of all congrats! And secondly, why not have the doc and his crew out on your due date..........you could watch the delivery WHILE you ride....? And depending how your wife feels, she could catch a set on the way back.......

Anyway, that's what we did. Good luck

My wife was riding in less than 2 weeks after our last child. Normal delivery, not c-section.

I think this the is first time the word "vaginal" has been used on a WW thread. Tank, I'm still laughing. I'm just mad you said it before I did cuz I thought the same thing, even though I dont' have kids yet, we must have the same A-hole mentality.

All I can see is BACTERIAL Infection with a "vaginal Delivery" if you don't wait at least 2 weeks. Especially if they perform an episiotomy

Stacy is right on.. you need to wait until the doctor gives the ok. Usually about six weeks.
