WW: How did it feel to take the win at this year’s Valdosta Yard Sale 7?
GS: Taking the win is simply a pat on the back after a long season. It's exactly what I came here to do, so to execute that is a reminder to keep doing my thing.
WW: How did you prepare mentally and physically leading up to the event?
GS: The mind holds more power than you could ever imagine. This event in particular isn't the same as the others, so I made sure to surround myself with like-minded people to stay on my A game.
WW: Did you adjust your riding once you saw what the other riders were throwing down?
GS: Not necessarily. I always want to push myself to my full potential, so no matter the competition, the goal of being the best version of yourself/your riding stays the same.
WW: What part of your run are you most proud of?
GS: The very first trick in the run. Toeside wallride hardway backside 270 to downpipe. I believe this is the most technical trick we saw all weekend, so to put it down run after run was a good feeling.
WW: Who or what kept you the most motivated throughout the competition weekend?
GS: One of my best friends, Maxime Roux, was by my side all week. Other than that it was the thought of defending my title that kept me going.
WW: How would you describe your personal riding style and how it has evolved over the years?
GS: When I was younger I held lots of emphasis on rail riding and style, partially from growing up in such a defined cable scene at OWC. Over the recent years, I've been doing my best to include the difficulty factor while maintaining that original mindset as much as possible. Overall, I'd say my switch game is what I've become most proud of.
WW: Does freeriding influence your competition mindset or the other way around?
GS: They go hand in hand. When I'm freeriding, I am constantly pushing harder to achieve the desired result when the time comes. And at the events, I'm constantly thinking of what I need to improve on for next time.
WW: Who are some riders you look up to or draw inspiration from when it comes to pushing your progression?
GS: They say if you want to run faster you've got to surround yourself with people faster than you. My brother leads the sport in difficulty and progression. Living together makes sure I don't end up in the middle of the pack.
WW: What setup were you running during Yard Sale 7 including board, bindings and cable settings?
GS: My personal pro-model wakeboard coming very soon with Liquid Force.
WW: What is your favorite memory from the event either on or off the water?
GS: I would be lying if I didn't say taking the win haha!
WW: How do you think events like this help shape the direction of modern wakeboarding?
GS: In my eyes, the number one component of an event like Valdosta's Yard Sale is the innovative setup. There's lots of pieces when it comes to cable wakeboarding, some more important than others, but one thing’s for sure, and that's the features aren't going anywhere anytime soon. So to bring a fresh look definitely pushes the sport.
WW: What is next for you after Yard Sale 7? Are there any new projects, trips, or edits coming soon?
GS: That was the last event of the season. Most people would say it’s time to chill after the summer I've had...three trips to Europe, two trips to Asia and four months away from home. But I'd say I'm finally able to get to work. Keep your eyes peeled because this 2025 isn't over yet.
WW: How can fans keep up with your next moves such as social pages or upcoming videos?

WW: How did it feel to take the win at this year’s Valdosta Yard Sale 7?
CS: I had this one in my mind for a bit, so it felt super good to finally make it happen!
WW: What was going through your mind during your final run?
CS: Not much…I was in “Flow State.”
WW: Were there any specific tricks or lines you knew you wanted to land?
CS: Definitely knew going into this whole event I wanted to backlip, same 270 the container for the best trick competition. Once I did that, I felt out the back 180 on, same 180 off. At that point I knew that was my trick.
WW: Did you adjust your riding once you saw what the other riders were throwing down?
CS: Nope. Not at this event. I just stuck to my plan. Honestly, I didn't really watch the others ride. Just focused on my run.
WW: What part of your run are you most proud of and what would you change if you could run it again?
CS: I really like my back 50, back three off the container. It just feels so cool to go that high in the middle of a competition run. If I could change one thing, I would make my first hit harder by grabbing my board or spinning to full 360. I would also execute everything better, focusing on full pulls and T-ing everything up perfect.
WW: Does freeriding influence your competition mindset or the other way around?
CS: Competition 100% influences my riding every single day. I always have competitions in the back (or front) of my mind no matter what.
WW: What setup were you running during Yard Sale 7 including board, boots, and cable setup?
CS: Hyperlite Guara board and Hyperlite Freepress boots with the System Lowback bindings! As far as cable setup goes, for my run I was running normal speed and for best trick I was running it at full speed.
WW: Did you make any last minute changes before finals day?
CS: No. Just trusted myself and all the preparation I have done.
WW: Are there any features at Valdosta that feel like your home turf?
CS: No, but this is why I love Valdosta so much! Everything is super unique and different from anything I’ve ever hit before.
WW: What is your favorite memory from the event either on or off the water?
CS: Honestly landing the backlip same 270 on the container in the best trick competition was definitely a highlight for me. I just had that trick in my mind for so long. It felt so nice to learn that trick and even better to learn it and land it with all the pressure of the competition!
WW: What is next for you after Yard Sale 7? Are there any new projects, trips or edits coming soon?
CS: I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out…
