Herman, Your son sounds to be doing one of a many possible things, I'll list off a few common mistakes; Leaving the wake too early, Flattening off (caused by cutting really hard at the beginning and loosing edge momentum at the wake), Absorbing the wake with his knees (not straightening his legs out at the top of the wake), Holding the rope away from his body/hips. Try to have him build a progressive edge (start with a slow cut building speed to hit the wake at about a 45 angle), to stand tall (to initiate pop) at the top of the wake, and to hold the rope close to his hips/waist. If you have any video, or picture of him right when he tries to leave the wake it would help us to better analyze his technique.
