About to buy a inboard but someone told me 40 gallons last them about 4 hours with 2k ballast full. Is this true? I find that hard to believe they wouldnt put in 80 gallon tanks if this were true.
4 hrs. on the meter? 2000lbs. ballast? We can go all day on 35 gal. but ballast going in and out during the course of the day depending on rider. That is a VLX with stock MLS and not a 2000lbs. system. Are they talking about 2000lbs. in older direct drive maybe? Seems too high to me. Maybe they should check for fuel leaks:-)
not sure in terms of hours but i have a carburated 350 v8 in a bigger dd inboard.
with my boat weighted with about 2200lbs plus 3-6 people i get around 10-12 average sets...so thats two to three sets each depending on the # of riders...
im not sure of the gal of my tank but its about 30 gals...
on the priginal question im not sure someone should get only four hours out of a 40 gal tank but a heavily weighted boat with riders taking either long sets or non stop sets then it is possible to use that much gas in that short of time but not likely..maybe his guage is off which is common in a vlx or most boats for that matter or he isnt calculating correctly??
my friend has a sunbird that can go allll day long on about 10 gallons...seriously though....But i dont think the boat was built to wakeboard so if you wanna give us a pull in central texas email me
