To me it feels like the platty has a bit more snap. Demo both, that would help w/ your decision.

419.00 for the Foam core and 519.00 for the Platty is minimum add price. Retail is 645.00 on the platty and 495.00 on the foam core.

I wouldn't waste your money on the platinum. Not that I've ridden it but the foam is going to be more durable and not be really any different from the platinum in they way they ride.

How is the foam more durable? The platinum uses carbon fiber top sheets and carbon fiber rods.

Good question. Ask the guys that break all of them (platinum) and the CWB dealer that told me the same thing!

I've never broken a Platinum in the two years I've been riding them. If you ride regularly a Platinum will hold its snap much longer than the foam. When I got my last Platinum (the 07) I compared it to the years before (same board with 1 year of riding) it had nearly the same flex. The year before my foam (same Absolute shape) bowed like a battered foam board will. If you got the scrilla, its worth the $100. Both have the same warranty and IMO the Plats look money. I just went from a 05 absolute plat to an 07 reg. core. IMO, if you know how to pop properly, the difference is not that much greater, but if you are a little sloppy, the plat will boot you higher, but it can throw you off as well(buck). I changed because the landings are softer on the reg core than the plat. My knees and back appreciate it when I land out in the flats, I would demo both and see what you prefer.

Eubanks- a friend of mine that rides for CWB broke 8 of the 06 Marius, which was foam because they did not make a platty version that year. For 07 he got the platty version and only broke one(1). so you tell me what is stronger. Hes a good rider and knows what hes doing so thats all from pretty darn smooth landings, meaning pure strength of the board. (Message edited by 26lacefield on October 10, 2007)

There are a lot more variables than just plat or non-plat on boards breaking. your friend could be at the top of the weight limits of the size he is using. Not disagreeing with you as far as strength is concerned, just adding that more issues could be at play...

Trevor Hansen has never broken a board. How is it that some pros break them and others dont.

I think people think that just because the platinums are a pound lighter they are prone to breaking more...

Byrd, Yes there are many variables Ryan's friend is no where near the top of the weight limit. 5'8" 185 lbs. on the 140. But he does go big.
