Justin, our neighbor on Greers Ferry told us that it was up 21 feet a week ago. It's crazy man. One of the docks in our cove was just floating loose out in the middle of the lake!

We're on Bull Shoals, on the Missouri side, and we have been moving our dock daily. The water is up about 18 feet. I just checked the lake level and its 678.25 as of 5:00 am. Our normal level is around 640. It has risen another 2 feet from the same time yesterday. Time to go check the dock!
The bright side is that we have almost no walk to our dock at this point. It's up so high, it's in the trees, right by where we have to park. Usually we have a pretty steep walk, at least 100 feet from where we park.
I'll try to get pics posted later today. There are no boat ramps open in our area, they are all under water!

I actually just rode Greers Ferry this weekend (it was 48 degrees outside) and the water is WAY up! Two weeks ago the water rose 10 feet in 48 hours and hasn't come down at all. Also, I have never seen the water so dirty. It looks like the Mississippi River.

all that stuff that yall have up there is steady headin this way down here in Louisiana. I went on the ouachita river this past week and it was up about 20 feet with a hell of a current. my friend who weighs about 120 almost got up on the board with the rope tied to a bridge. the current is super strong.

been riding for about a month down in hot springs. All of the lakes are high down here but not real bad.

Well, we moved the dock up another 4 feet. We'll see how long that lasts. (ours is the wood one with the white roof)
Imagine, in these pictures, that we usually have to walk down a very steep slope, about 100 feet to the dock. I don't have any "normal lake level" pictures on this computer. I'll look at home. The cove that we are in is ordinarily only half the width that it is now!

What you can't see very well is all the junk floating in the water. When we raised the "arms" on the dock, you couldn't believe all the junk and tree limbs/trunks that came up with them!

yea greers is up crazy high.
we just went up and our dock was turned around backwards and one of the cables had snapped.. but we got it back to normal..
i wish they would keep the water level higher though in the summer.. because sometimes on our end of the lake it gets almost too low to use our boat ramp.

p c, That is an awesome profile pic with Sugar Loaf in the background. If you ride in middle fork, I'm sure I've seen you out there, what boat do you ride behind?

Colton, Yeah middle fork has that huge new house in it, we normally keep going back in there until it gets narrow (and shallow), there is some really good water back in there.

I'll be out there pretty much every weekend in May , so if you guys see the Black Avalanche on my profile, thats me.

We rode Greers Ferry this weekend, the water was freezingish but not too bad. The bad part is the unbelievable amount of debris in the water. I have never seen the lake like this; you really have to be careful.

debris - obstructions in the water that you can't see

Rocky and I were on the water last Sunday and there was all these logs that are bottom heavy so only the tip is sticking out of the water but underneath is a stump. We were just kidding around.

Did anyone see bull shoals open up all 17 floodgates, the water is crazy high it was about 15 feet under the dam/bridge
Old     (wakeskateordie)      Join Date: Apr 2008       04-12-2008, 8:03 PM Reply
They were talking about opening the flood gates at Bull Shoals, but I dont think they have yet.

They did open them up on Norfork this week. It is way up, almost up to 62 out in Henderson. If I remember right this is the highest it has ever been, I know they let more water through it this week than ever before.

I am hoping it gets settled down so we dont have trash in it all summer.

Greers Ferry is only a few inches from opening the gates.

This is the Corps park at Theodosia, the roof you see is the big pavillion, the playground is out there somewhere under water. So are all the campsites.

Just for a little comparison, the photos of the bridge and pavilion above are from this past Friday 4/11/08.
These pictures are from 4/05/08, so you can see what has happened in just less than a week:

It's pretty wild whats going on with these water levels. My family's dock broke loose this past weekend and we had to go secure it to some trees because we couldn't get it close to shore. The water level is so high that you can't get through the trees to get to shore.
Old     (rmdanie)      Join Date: Jun 2007       04-16-2008, 9:53 AM Reply
I know most folks don't care about my little riding hole, but Dequeen lake was 37 feet above normal at it's highest. IT is now 31 feet above normal and dumping a foot a day. It is so frustrating that the water has warmed up to tolerable for the crazy but the boat ramps are at least two weeks out (min) from being servicable.

RD, I care about your little riding hole. Looking for a good camping trip lake this summer and Dequeen is on the list. So is broken bow. 37'!! thats nuts.

Lyle, Lake Dardanelle is pretty dirty right now. It's also up really high right now. I'm sure you can get out and ride, but there might be a little debris in the water. I live down the road about thirty minutes in Clarksville and me and a buddy of mine will be riding this weekend down there. Let me know if you need anything.
Old     (rmdanie)      Join Date: Jun 2007       04-16-2008, 4:17 PM Reply
Nacho,

I don't know if you know these two lakes but here is the skinny.

#1: DeQueen Lake: No other riders on weekdays. Ample camping spots. Shaped like an "I" with the top and the bottom being the two runs. That will work out great as I can tear up one while you tear up the other. We can piss off the fisherman together.

#2. Broken Bow Lake: We go here about 10 times a summer. Mainly on the weekends as it is about a 30 minute drive. It is a very large very clean lake. It is 2/3 the size of Ouachita and just as clean. We go there for a more social atmosphere. It can get really crowded and choppy on a weekend but there are some coves to take some runs.

Dude, anyways, call me if you get some plans nailed down at either of those lakes. I have a crew that would love to join you for a day or two with our supra. 870-557-3553...

Peace,
Ryan

Lyle or Jon, I am bringing the supra to Hamilton this weekend since it is the closest non-flooded lake. Either of you plan on being out. The weather should be really nice

Ryan
