Share

Malibu WWA Rider ExperienceLAKE ALFRED, Fla. – The 2016 Malibu WWA Rider Experience East, working in partnership with the Wootown Wakefest, is set to take place in Worcester, Massachusetts on July 15-17 at Lake Quinsigamond. Located just outside of historic downtown Boston, one of the United States most popular cities, the stunning lake covers more than 772 acres. The three-day event will serve as the industry leader in hosting Malibu WWA Rider Experience Eastelite athletes in amateur competition, as well as an educational opportunity for riders competing at any level to learn from the best in the sport. Malibu’s WWA Rider Experience will coincide as the East Regional Championship to qualify riders for the 2016 WWA Wakeboard National Championship.

The Rider Experience is a family oriented event that provides plenty of excitement throughout the weekend for all ages and abilities, such as Freeride Friday, Judge’s Experience, and the chance to surf behind Malibu’s Wakesetter on Surf Gate Sunday. In 2015, the Rider Experience East was held in Malibu WWA Rider Experience EastMinneapolis, Minnesota on the Mississippi River and was filled with stellar performances throughout the weekend. Australian Nic Rapa came out on top of the Jr. Pro division with a heel side nose grab 720, followed by Mac Schramm (USA) and Lewy Watt (AUS).

For 2016, Malibu WWA Rider Experience East will host the fifth Malibu WWA Pro Card Qualifier, which qualifies riders for the WWA World Rankings and the right to compete at all WWA professional contests for the 2016 season. Malibu will have a handful of professional athletes in attendance, including Chad Sharpe, Massi Piffaretti, Tarah Mikacich, Amber Smith and Parker Siegele.

When riders hit the water on July 16, an additional $5,000 in prize money will be up for grabs, as the Wootown Wakefest will host the Wootown Open Division, encouraging the participation of professional and amateur riders.
