Tony Iacconi

Share

Tony IacconiIf you've been following the pro wake events around the States and globally, Tony Iacconi doesn't really need an introduction. He's one of the most motivated and best riders out there. Other than being a cool Australian wakeboarder, Tony is known for his crazy training regimen and work ethic. He's a total pro on and off the water, with some crazy results from the past Pro Tour and 2018 season in general. Check out what he's been up to lately!

WW: Age?
TI: 21

WW: From?
TI: Newcastle Australia

WW: Years pro?
TI: 5 years

WW: Years riding?
TI: 12 years

Tony IacconiWW: What's your training regimen like?
TI: Pretty crazy. I wake up around 4:45 AM, get my morning vitamins in and have a good breaky in the morning, take my dog, Tika, out for a walk around the neighborhood. I then usually have my first ride around 6:30-6:45 right when the sun comes up. After that I’ll head to the gym to get a good workout in, come back home and have some food. Go back out on the boat for another ride and, if I’m feeling good, sometimes I’ll have another ride in the afternoon. Then I get in bed pretty early to do it all over again.

WW: How many sets do you usually ride per week?
TI: I would say I ride around 16-17 sets per week.

WW: Do you like riding/living back home or in the US and why?
TI: I like riding in Orlando. Everything is so easy. The boat is pretty much at the back door, fuel is way cheaper than back home. In Aus we pay about $1.60 per liter (roughly $6 per gallon). But I really do love being home! My friends and family are there and when I’m home it’s usually after the season is finished, so I get to chill and hangout for a few months before I get back into full time training for the season.

Tony IacconiWW: Heard that you're engaged now. Congrats and tell us when you're planning the wedding?
TI: Thank you! Yeah, I got engaged in New York this past December, so I have a lot of planning to do for the next year or so with the whole wedding stuff, but I’m sure Diana will handle most of that.

WW: Saw that you have a new little companion, Tika. Tell us about how she became a part of your life and if her daily support helps in the shredding?
TI: So we were on our way up to Masters in Georgia this year and about 20 minutes out of Pine Mountain Diana was driving and spotted a small black puppy in a parking lot about to run across the road. Long story short we pulled onto the side street next to the parking lot and grabbed her before she went onto the busy road we were driving on. We waited there for probably 15 minutes and no one came and collected her so we took her with us. Got her some food and water, stopped by the vet in Georgia to get her all healthy and worm free. Now she’s on the boat every day with me like a wakeboard support dog! Haha.

WW: Do you have a pro model?
TI: No, I don’t. I had one from 2013-2016, but then after some of my best years, Connelly took it off the line.

WW: Is there one in the plans?
TI: No talks yet, but, man, I hope so! I’ve been working so hard the past few years. Tony IacconiI have built up a good fan base, so it would be amazing to have a pro model board that myself and all my fans can enjoy on the water!

WW: Favorite boat to ride behind?
TI: Nautique G23. 100%.

WW: Plans for the off season?
TI: Keep it cruisy for a couple months. Then get right into it for next season.

WW: Plans for next season?
TI: To do well in all the contests is always a big plan for me. But to also try and build up my audience on YouTube more, pump out a heap of content for my fans, get some cool stuff in the mags and just have fun with it!

WW: Sponsors?
TI: Nautique Boats, Rockstar Energy, Jetpilot, Fuse Lenses, Connelly wake

WW: Special thanks to?
TI: I’d like to thank my fiancé, Diana, for driving for me bright and early in the mornings, my family for always supporting me no matter what, all my sponsors for believing in me and all my fans because without you guys I wouldn’t be riding a wakeboard everyday!! Thanks WakeWorld!!'
