Wakesurf Shaper Testing - Eight.3 Wake Shaper

The Eight.3 Wakesurf Shaper is easily the biggest unit we tested, but it's very light. They actually offer an even larger XL version of this wakesurf shaper as well. The unit we tested is the original Eight.3 wakesurf shaper and they've made some changes since then, so keep that in mind. The biggest difference with the Eight.3 shaper is the way it mounts to the boat. It uses Velcro by taping two long pieces of Velcro to the boat, which attach to the corresponding pieces of Velcro on the unit. The Velcro gives a much stronger hold than the suction cups, but it might be a little overkill since it can be difficult to get the unit off the boat. I'm 225 lbs and I stood on the Eight.3 wake shaper and it didn't come off the boat. I had to bounce on it a bit to get it to come off. It floats and does not include a leash. Fortunately, it never came off, but it's so big and buoyant that it's easy to find if it does. In the video below you can see the wave in action at both 10 MPH and 11 MPH. The Eight.3 wakesurf shaper retails for $600.

How about some riding impressions or opinions on which is the best?
