Surf Expo is the annual trade show for the wakesports industry. This year it was a little more interesting than most since hurricane Irma was due to land in Orlando on Sunday and our flight out of Orlando was on Saturday. Although they had already canceled the last day of Expo (Saturday), we decided to go ahead and make the trip from San Diego to Florida since it would still give us two days to wander the Orange County Convention Center floor and we figured our Saturday flight would make it out of Orlando as scheduled. We were wrong.
Upon checking in at Surf Expo on Thursday morning, we received a text informing us that the airport would be closed on Saturday and that our flight out was canceled. Not only that, but they also canceled another day (Friday) of Surf Expo. So that left us with one day to try to take in the entire show and two days to figure out how to get away from Irma and home to California.
There were no flights out available Thursday or Friday, so we spent about 12 hours on the road in a rental car and a night in Bluffton, South Carolina, but we finally made it to Atlanta, Georgia for our flight home. We may not have ended up with as many photos as we usually do, but I think we covered Surf Expo pretty well given the circumstances.
We've organized it by board companies, surf companies and boat companies. Of course, there's an "Other" category for everything else. Just click the link and you're off. Enjoy.
