The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour, the industry’s longest-running professional wakeboarding competition circuit, will visit some of the nation’s top water sports venues between April and August 2018, where the world’s top 16 professional men wakeboarders will compete for the coveted championship.
The 2018 season includes return stops to fan-favorite locations and one brand-new venue for the tour, now in its 26th year:
• April 13-14: Chandler, Arizona – Originally built for boat racing, Firebird Lake at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park is known for its pristine and calm water conditions, making it a perfect platform for world-class wakeboard performances.
• May 19: Acworth, Georgia – Known by many as the best wakeboard party venue in the Southeast, fans travel to Acworth by car and boat to see exceptional athlete performances, as pro riders feed off the energy of a 300-plus boat flotilla of rabid fans.
• June 16: Mooresville, North Carolina – During the tour’s first-ever stop in Mooresville in 2016, local fans turned out in droves to see the pros battle it out on Lake Norman. This is another venue where spectators can experience the action by boat or on land.
• Aug. 4: Warsaw, Indiana – The season will end with the series' first-ever stop in Warsaw, Indiana, where the overall champion will be crowned. Center Lake, located in beautiful downtown Central Park, provides ideal conditions for athletes and spectators alike, and this is the only event on the 2018 schedule where admission is free.
"Last year, we saw wakeboarding at a level like never before, and we look forward to bringing all that action and more to the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour in 2018," said Rick Tinker, president of Supra Boats. "Our incredible venue line-up features stops in wake sports hotbeds across the nation, and each one provides top-notch conditions for the athletes and amenities for the audience."
The eight highest-ranked competitors from 2017 pre-qualify for the 2018 tour, leaving eight spots reserved for the best performances at the qualifying event on April 13. Pre-qualified riders include Harley Clifford (2017 overall winner) and Supra Team riders Nic Rapa and Shota Tezuka.
In addition to wakeboarding, the Supra Boats Pro Wakesurf Tour brings one of the hottest up-and-coming sports in North America to each city. Wakesurfing, which is riding the boat’s wake without the help of a tow rope. Noah Flegel, Parker Payne and Sean Silveira prequalify for the wakesurf tour.
The Supra Boats SA550 is the official tow boat for the tour again in 2018. Purpose-built to create clean, consistent and controlled wakes, it is designed to push athletes to new levels while preserving strict handling and a balanced ride for those onboard.
