Nils BallesterWW: Let’s start with some stats… name, age and where do you live?
NB: My name is Nils Ballester, I am 22 years old and I live in Domdidier, Switzerland.

WW: I have noticed that the Swiss are always on time and very punctual. Is that common in Switzerland?
NB: Haha, yes! 90% Of Swiss are like that and I am even more than the others. When I go to meet people at the wake park at 2:00 PM, I am there at 1:30 PM...Haha!

WW: For how many years have you been wakeboarding?
NB: I used to go to the cable park a few times a year, but I didn't get serious until May 2014.

WW: Who introduced you to the sport of wakeboarding?
NB: I used to work at a kite school and David Calamonte (kiteboard rider) came to the kiteboarding school where I worked. He showed me an edit of him at a wake park and I thought it was cool. Thanks to him, I have become a wakeboarder.

Nils BallesterWW: Where is your local lake?
NB: My home spot is Estavayer-le-lac in Switzerland. It is the first cable park in Switzerland.

WW: Do you ride with the same people or do you venture out and ride with other wakeboarders?
NB: I usually ride with the riders at my home spot, but I love to travel and meet other riders that ride at a high level so I can learn from them.

WW: Have you ever been wakeboarding in the United States?
NB: No, I've never been to the United States. I would like to go to Wake Island in Sacramento. That would be awesome!

WW: What kind of boat do you usually ride behind?
NB: I'd rather ride the cable parks, but when I ride with friends, it is with an Axis boat.

WW: How about your wakeboard set up?
NB: My wakeboard is the Suprah 136 by MO4 Wakeboards (my sponsor). It is a really good board and it's perfect for riding the sliders, big jumps and for rotations!

Nils BallesterWW: What do you enjoy most about wakeboarding?
NB: I like to ride very hard and love to hit big kickers that make me fly. I also love all the possibilities of tricks on sliders and more than all, spending awesome days at the cable park with my friends!

WW: What do you like to do when you’re not wakeboarding?
NB: I like to go see my friends that I do not see at the cable park, go to parties, go karting and running.

WW: Do you have WakeWorld set as your home page?
NB: No, but I will…Haha.

WW: Are there any tricks that you are working on or want to work on?
NB: I learned a tail grab backside 5, toeside backside 5 and I am trying to improve my stalefish to backside 450.

WW: What would your ideal day be like?
NB: An ideal day would be to go to the wake park in the morning, sunny day and flat water, spend all day filming and riding hard with my friends. Then in the evening, have a little supper and go to party.

Nils BallesterWW: Pro wakeboarders… who would be your top three and why?
NB: Daniel Grant is probably my favorite rider. He is crazy…he goes big and he has incredible skills on a wakeskate and wakeboard. The guy is just awesome! Raph Derome because his riding behind the boat is incredible, but then his riding in the wake park is even more crazy! Nico Von Lerchenfeld because he is super fluid with a very good style.

WW: Are there any spots that you are hoping to one day ride at?
NB: In Europe, it would be Deutschland at the Turncable and my dream spot is Camsur.

WW: Any words of advice to those that are starting out?
NB: Wakeboarding is not an easy sport. You are sure to swallow a lot of water, but with perseverance and motivation you will reach your goals.

WW: Is there anyone that you would like to thank?
NB: I want to especially thank my first sponsor MO4 Wakeboards for trusting in me and helping me make my dream come true. To my family and friends who believe in me and encouraged me to move forward and evolve... and to WakeWorld for the interview!
