Jim CampbellWW: Let’s start with some stats...name, age and where do you live?
JC: My name is Jim Campbell, I am 22 years old from Marlborough, Massachusetts.

WW: For how many years have you been wakeboarding?
JC: I’ve been riding for about 10 years.

WW: Who introduced you to the sport of wakeboarding?
JC: My neighbor Mikey! He showed me the ropes and taught me my first flip. I still ride with him all the time.

WW: Where is your local lake?
JC: My local spot is the lake I grew up on, Lake Fort Meadow in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

WW: Is there a bit of a wakeboard scene going on there?
JC: Yeah! The wakeboarding scene is getting bigger and bigger every year. Everyone is getting into it. I’ve been doing a lot of coaching lately and it’s awesome to see new riders progress.

WW: How long is the riding season in Massachusetts?
JC: The riding season in Massachusetts is really short. We can get on the water as early as the beginning of April (with dry suits of course) and ride until the beginning of October.

Jim CampbellWW: Do you ride the same people or do you venture out and go out with other riders?
JC: I usually wakeboard with the same people at my home lake, but I venture out often to different lakes in Massachusetts and out of state. I like riding in different places and meeting new people. It keeps things fresh.

WW: What kind of boat do you usually ride behind?
JC: Usually, I ride behind an X-Star or an X-30. Depends on who’s around.

WW: What beats do you usually have playing on the boat?
JC: We like to keep it country where I’m from, but some rock, hip hop, and house to get you stoked for your next set.

WW: How about your wakeboard set up?
JC: I have a Liquid Force Harley 139. I’ve been riding the Harley for a couple years and it’s on point. I highly recommend it.

WW: What do you enjoy most about wakeboarding?
JC: What I enjoy most about wakeboarding is that feeling it gives you. Going big into the flats, sticking that new trick you’ve been after or even just carving around

WW: Have you gotten any wakeboarding related injuries?
JC: Yeah, definitely! Blew out my ACL, couple shoulder dislocations and countless concussions. I wish I could remember how many…haha!Jim Campbell

WW: What do you like to do when you’re not wakeboarding?
JC: I am really big into fitness. I spend a lot of time in the gym, hiking, running and riding the Harleys with the boys.

WW: Do you have WakeWorld.com set as your home page?
JC: No, but I visit the site often to check out the new articles and videos. I use Google way too much to not have it as my homepage.

WW: Are there any tricks that you are working on or want to work on?
JC: I’ve been working on adding new grabs to my tricks. It changes the trick completely. I’m feeling a backmobe coming in the near future as well.

Jim CampbellWW: Do you have any sponsors?
JC: Yes. Northeast Riders and Liquid Force wakeboards. I am searching for a few more for the upcoming season. Any companies interested look me up on Instagram @jcampbell510.

WW: What would your ideal day be like?
JC: Wake up, catch that early morning glassy water, hangout on the lake all day with friends; surfing, barefooting, and just floating around. Then grill up some good food and take a sunset session to end an epic day.

WW: Pro wakeboarders…who would be your top three and why?
JC: Keith Lyman is one of my favorite wakeboarders. He goes huge and has a unique style that I’ve based my riding off of over the years. Shaun Murray; wicked cool guy, biggest straight Raley known to man. Aaron Rathy; he shreds and everything he does is super clean.

Jim CampbellWW: Are there any spots that you hope to ride at one day?
JC: I’ve always wanted to ride at Lake Powell. Looks awesome.

WW: In the 10 years that you have been wakeboarding, what has been your coolest experience to date?
JC: Wakeboarding has brought me to a lot of cool places in the past, but if I had to pick one that really stood out, it would be riding at the finger lakes in New York this summer with NER (Northeast Riders). Those lakes are awesome!

WW: Where do you think the sport of wakeboarding will be in five years?
JC: I think wakeboarding is going to continue to grow. With all the cable parks popping up across the country, it’s making it easier and less expensive to ride.

WW: Do you have any words of advice to those starting out?
JC: Just go out there and have fun!

WW: Is there anyone that you would like to thank?
JC: I would like to thank my family and friends for all the support, Northeast Riders for everything you guys do and thank you WakeWorld for the interview!
