Guy Firer - Cable

Share

Guy Firer

Guy Firer is one of a kind. He has the biggest energy out of any wakeboarder and is always stoked to ride or shoot. He's super fun to hang out with on and off the water. He was finishing his army duties back home until about a year or so ago, but now he's free from that, ready to be his own person 100%, has grown out his hair and shreds even harder/more often than ever before. Check out some of his sick cable shenanigans in this video!

WW: Age?
GF: I’m 22 years old

WW: Years riding?
GF: I've been riding for the past 12 years.

WW: Years pro?
GF: Pro rider for the past seven years.

WW: How long have you been finished with the Army back home?
GF: I finished my Army service a year ago after three years of service. So since I’m riding for the Israeli national team, I got a special program in the Army for athletes, so it didn’t stop me from getting my targets, but it made them harder to get because I was limited with the days I could fly overseas to train and compete, so I couldn’t spend that much time overseas for training. But it was a really nice experience and it’s part of being Israeli and I’m proud of it.

WW: You’ve been spending quite some time in the States lately. Where have you been staying, riding the most and who have you been training with?
GF: I been spending a lot of time lately here in the States and have been training on the boat with Tony Iacconi, the man himself, and that really helps me and is pushing me. I’m also training at The Boarding School with Mike Ferrera. Can’t thanks enough to them for helping me!! And I’m trying to ride as much cable as I can even though the Corona made the cable been closed, so at least I had a lot of time to train on the boat.

Guy FirerWW: What setup are you riding in 2020?
GF: My cable setup I'm riding on for 2020 is my Ronix wakeboard pro model, the PRESS PLAY, with RXT boots. And my boat set up is the RXT board with the RXT bindings.

WW: Favorite cable park in America?
GF: It's pretty hard to say what’s my favorite cable in the States because each cable is good thing. I like to go around all of them and just try to get the most out of what they good for. But I been spending a lot of time in Nona because it’s close to my house and it’s a really high cable with a perfect tension for air tricks, kicker and rails.

WW: Favorite cable park in Europe?
GF: When you're asking me about favorite cable in Europe, I think it’s same answer like about favorite cable in the States. There are so many good cables that’s really hard to choose one each cable has its own benefits.

WW: Favorite people to ride boat with lately?
GF: My favorite guy to ride boat is Tony Iacconi. There’s always a good time with him and he's always pushing me to get better!!

WW: Favorite people to ride cable with?
GF: Favorite people to ride cable with, of course, my Israeli crew, Efi and Moti Levi, Lior Sofer, Ben Zilberman , Ziv Zavaro and the twins, Josh and Brandon Harris, the Ronix crew and I love riding with every rider at the cable. It's just fun to share your sesh with someone.

WW: Favorite music?
GF: My favorite music is for sure trance music, always pumping to ride and gives me energy!!!

WW: Favorite movie?
GF: Favorite movie is Fast and Furious 1/2/3. I just love cars.

Guy FirerWW: Tell us about how a day in your life usually goes from the moment you wake up (what you eat for breakfast, then walk us through what happens to you on an average day).
GF: My day routine is waking up in the morning first thing brushing my teeth and then drinking water to get the blood to flow and then rolling a bit on the roller and the cross ball to open my muscles, then drinking fruit shake with some protein and then going to ride boat with Tony doing about a 45 min sesh with him, coming back home after resting a bit, eating lunch, going to ride the cable for about two hours and then coming back home and too wore out and stretch and then eating dinner, shower and to sleep.

WW: Plans for 2021?
GF: my plans for 2021 are to accomplish all my targets and that’s a secret, but I will tell some things. I want to start filming vlogs again and making sick edits all over the world. I have a lot of new tricks in my mind that I want to learn on the cable and the boat, but that’s already for this year, and want to compete in any big contest around the world, so 2021 is going to be a big year, especially after 2020 that most of the things got canceled, so I can’t wait to see what this year is going to look like because we didn’t finish yet, and what next year is going to bring me.

WW: Special thanks to anyone? Sponsors?
GF: I want to thank my parents. I wouldn't be here without their support, and also my sister’s, they are always there for me. To the Israeli Water Ski Federation that supports me in everything and making all this happen. To my friend that's always there for me even if I’m not seeing them for so long and to everyone that is part of my journey and supports me. It wouldn’t happen without all of you. Thanks. And a big thanks going to Ronix for making my dream come true. Lessssgooooooii!
