George Daniels

Share

George DanielsI've known George for almost as long as I've been living in Orlando. If you have had the pleasure of hanging or riding with him before, you know that he’s a super chill, professional dude both on and off his wakeskate. He’s been around the pro wakeskate scene for as long as I can remember. Now he’s a dad, but he hasn't slowed down much on ripping a skate. George is known for his consistency and cool flip combinations. Check out what he’s been up to at Freedom Wake Park lately!

WW: Age?
GD: 31

WW: From?
GD: Orlando, Florida

WW: What's your son's name and how old is he?
GD: Colton Daniels, 4

WW: Do you wish for him to become a wakeskater too?
GD: I do hope my son gets the excitement of water sports as I do. It would be a dope feeling to ride and teach him as he gets older!

WW: What do you like to do with him in your free time? I can see from the video intro that he's pretty into monster trucks.
GD: Colton and I usually play with Legos, ride bikes and skateboard. Him and I sometimes go out on the boat and catch a wakesurf together or we ride out to Freedom and he watches me (I think) ride. Most of the time he’s playing with the boys on the dock though.

George DanielsWW: How many years have you been skating?
GD: I’ve been riding since freshman year in high school, so I would say 17 years now.

WW: How many years pro?
GD: I have been pro since '05, so 13 years maybe. LOL.

WW: Favorite moment/event of the past season?
GD: I haven’t really rode too many events this year. Just kind of enjoying riding with no pressure, you know. Free riding!

WW: Other wakeskaters you look up to/like to skate with?
GD: There’s a lot of guys I enjoy watching. Andy P., TJ Giesey, J. Mears, T. Wooten and all the guys that have been crushing through Freedom lately.

WW: Plans for the off season?
GD: No big plans for the off season. Just enjoying riding with my friends and learning new tricks. Hopefully, get Colton up on the board by himself.

WW: How did you get into riding at Freedom?
GD: I was riding with Sam Langley in winter time. He mentioned about building some rails at this park called Freedom. He invited me out and the rest is history!

WW: Who runs Freedom Wake Park?
GD: Owner and operator of Freedom is Cobe, ‘The Micker.‘ I’ve known Cobe since my start on the Pro Tour. Super nice guy, knows the fundamentals to get new riders on the water and having fun.George Daniels

WW: Who do you usually skate with there?
GD: Man, a lot of the names I just mentioned up at the top of the interview. There’s some more heads too, like James McGuigan, Brandon Rau and his wife. Every weekend there’s always a new face showing up to get some of this cable. It’s awesome!

WW: What wakeskate are you riding currently?
GD: Currently riding a Virtue 40 skate. I enjoy it a lot.

WW: What shoes do you use?
GD: I’ve got some Nike SB on my feet. Not sure what style, but they always have a good shoe for your water needs.

WW: Favorite trick at the moment?
GD: Anything that involves a big spin. Been loving that trick with variations.

WW: Sponsors?
GD: Rockstar Energy, CTI knee braces, Performance Ski and Surf, Virtue Wakeskates

WW: Special thanks to anyone?
GD: Just like to thank TJ for the pulls and getting up early so that we could film this segment. All the boys at Freedom watching on the dock. Everyone that continuously supports me and wakeskating.
