Eugenia de Armas

Share

Eugenia de ArmasHailing from Argentina, this 19-year-old is quickly making her name in the pro wakeboard scene. Eugenia recently went down in history as the first female to land a wake-to-wake double. We caught up with Euge in Orlando to see how things are going since the monumental day.

What’s your name, age and where are you from?
My name is Euge de Armas. I’m 19 years old and I’m from Argentina.

Where do you train?
Well, here in America I have a boat in Clermont, more specifically at Lake Louisa. That's pretty much where I ride every day.

How long have you been living in Orlando?
I only “live” in Orlando for six months. Then I go back home and keep riding there for six months. It’s like an endless summer, which is amazing, but this “back and forward” thing is like my third year.

How come you didn’t compete on the tour this year? Are you planning to compete next year?
Eugenia de ArmasI wanted to compete in all of them, but I only went to Nationals. That’s the idea! But some of the WWA competitions are the same days as the IWWF ones, so I’m still trying to figure it out what to do.

Congratulations on the double! How many do you think you tried before you landed it?
Thanks! That was my fourth set trying them! On the third one I hurt my rib quite bad, so I stopped wakeboarding for a couple of weeks, but as soon as I got better, I tried them again. So I would say I did like 20 times? That seems right, haha!

How many have you landed so far?
I only landed that one. Right now I have some competitions coming, so I’m training for those, but I won’t stop trying them. The idea is to Eugenia de Armasget it consistent and try others.

What are your plans for the off-season this year?
No off-season for me! My plan is to go back home and just keep riding and competing over there!

Sponsors, friends or family you’d like to thank?
Yeah! First of all, my main sponsors, Mom and Dad, haha. I wouldn’t be here without all the effort they are doing back home. Liquid Force for all the gear and support they’ve been giving me since I can remember, LeadWake and, the most recent one, Follow!

Thanks to all my friends that made this season amazing, but definitely HUGE thanks to my sister, Vicky. She is amazing...amazing support, amazing company and amazing sister! She makes wakeboarding so easy and fun for me. I wouldn’t have landed most of my tricks if it wasn’t for her haha. Always pushing me to the limit and encouraging me to try stuff.
