21 Questions with Randall Harris

Share

Randall HarrisAs you may know, the incomparable Randall Harris recently signed on with Sullen clothing. Sullen is a progressive clothing company with great support of its athletes and an amazingly deep website that celebrates those athletes and the lifestyles they represent. Sullen recently hit Randall with 21 questions to add even more content to their ever-expanding website and they were kind enough to share it with us...

We are back for another 21 questions and it so happens to be on our newly-added wakeboard athlete Randall Harris. Randall is a badass on and off the water. When it comes to style, this dude has it all from his big tricks behind the boat or in the fresh new all-white WSR (West Side Riders) Vans collaboration shoe. Randall stays busier than most capturing sweet sunset shots in places most wouldn’t think about riding and it’s his creativity that opens doors for him and sets him apart from other guys. He stressed to me that Florida is the Mecca of wakeboarding and that the industry is slim in the So Cal area, so you have to learn to stand out and do different stuff, which most companies drool over. Sullen is definitely stoked and lucky to have him on the team. Check out the interview below along with the video from him picking up his new Vans kicks. Enjoy!

Sullen: What’s up Randall? How’s everything going?
Randall: Just livin’ and lovin’, mayne!

Sullen: How long have you been wakeboarding?
Randall: I’ve been wakeboarding for 16 years…minus two or three years for personal growth and self-exploration (ha ha).

Sullen: What’s the reason you wakeboard?
Randall: Apparently God wants me to wakeboard.

Randall HarrisSullen: Where are you from?
Randall: I’m originally from Huntington Beach, California. My home lakes for riding are Canyon Lake and Lake Elsinore.

Sullen: That’s kind of the Mecca of wakeboarding wouldn’t you say?
Randall: The Mecca of wakeboarding is Orlando, Florida. Professional wakeboarders in California and on the West Coast are an endangered species on the brink of extinction.

Sullen: Do you compare your riding style to anyone?
Randall: I would like to compare it to Bruce Lee, but I’m not on that level yet.

Sullen: What kind of music do you like?
Randall: Gangsta Rap and the best of everything old school.

Sullen: Any special setup that the Vandall runs?
Randall: The Vandall Edition A22 Axis. That’s the office.

Sullen: Is there one band you listen to before you ride to pump you up?
Randall: Right now it’s Nipsey Hussle.

Sullen: Your favorite place to eat?
Randall: I love BBQ’s in the cuts with real Mexicans when they throw a grate on top of a metal trash can and cook the carne asada on it.

Sullen: Favorite drink?
Randall: Rockstar Lemon Lime Punched every mornin’!

Sullen: Why Sullen?
Randall: Sullen has been my favorite clothing brand for a good minute long before I signed. I’m a fan of the Sullen artists and the majority of the art is done by legendary artists I would love to get work from. I love dark, demented and dramatic art. When you can wear that art around all day on a shirt or hat and see the impact it has on people, that’s powerful. Plus Sullen is from my block.

Randall HarrisSullen: What’s your favorite item from Sullen?
Randall: My favorite Sullen item at this very moment is the Prey tee, art by Simon Hayag. And the Moore quilted flannel also.

Sullen: Who’s your favorite Sullen Angel?
Randall: The more important question is: Am I one of the Sullen Angels’ favorite Sullen Athlete?

Sullen: If you weren’t wakeboarding, what would you be doing?
Randall: Skateboarding

Sullen: What kind of girls does Randall like?
Randall: I like good girls that love God and go to the gym.

Sullen: What’s a hidden talent no one knows?
Randall: I got wicked gymnastic abilities.

Sullen: Any major plans for Summer 2011
Randall: Just to continue to push the boundaries of the wake scene, attend as many wake contests as possible, grow WSR and defend my title at the Spring Ride Double Contest next month.

Randall HarrisSullen: Best place you have traveled to?
Randall: Without a doubt California is the best place I’ve ever been. Followed by Vegas and New York. Can’t forget Mexico. Mexico is a beautiful country with beautiful people and an amazing culture.

Sullen: Worst place you have traveled to?

Randall: Wales, England. It was dreary, cold, windy and depressing. There were certain hours of the day when the restaurants wouldn’t serve me and Big Spence food. Would you want to be stuck on a little island with Big Spence when he can’t get food?

Sullen: Anyone you wanna give shout-outs to? This is your time…..
Randall: Thank you Jesus! West Side Riders! Valla Con Dios.
