Summer may be coming to an end, but it's bittersweet because it's the one time of year we get to hear from our readers and get their thoughts in the industry's ultimate opinion poll, the WakeWorld Riders Choice Awards Presented by CWB Board Co. Compiling and broadcasting the data input by our readers lets the world know what real wakesports enthusiasts think and only makes future products and riders that much better. Plus, there's no better way to end the summer than to give away some great free gear to our readers.

We've combed through the data and come up with the winners in each category. Those lucky winners, both riders and companies, have been awarded with some pretty cool trophies. However, let's first address the awesome stuff that our readers will get for doing nothing more than submitting their ballots.

The WakeWorld Riders Choice Awards Presented by CWB Board Co. are well known for hooking up our voters handsomely, and 2018 is no different. Our presenting sponsor, CWB Board Co., as well as Kicker, have given up some goodies for our readers to enjoy. Ok, let's get down to it! In some categories, we had some new faces and in others we saw more of the same. Be sure to click on each category link below to see who took top honors and who got honorable mention.

The top of the Top Male Wakeboarders category remained unchanged from last year, but it's no surprise considering this man's dominance of the sport for the past decade. We also saw a couple new faces in this category with a few dropping off as well. Steel Lafferty was our biggest gainer after not appearing on the 2017 list and jumping to #3 for 2018! 

In the Top Female Wakeboarders category, four of the 2017 winners returned, but there is a new face at #5!

In the fifth year of our Top Wakesurfers category, the top spot goes to a "surfer" while we welcomed our first female wakesurfer to the top five!

In the Top Wakeskaters category, our top two flip-flopped once again and we added one new face to the mix.

In the one category that will never have a repeat winner, the readers installed Tyler Higham as the Rookie of the Year. Tyler picks up two awards this year as he was also voted the Most Improved Rider.

After picking up his very first Riders Choice award in 2017, Guenther Oka grabs two in 2018 by pulling down both the Rail Rider of the Year and Cable Rider of the Year categories.

Moving on from riders to products, this year's Wakeboard of the Year is again Danny Harf's pro model, the Ronix One, which has seen it's share of time at the top of these ranking. The same Danny Harf pro model ended up on top in the Binding of the Year category as well.

The Wakesurf Board of the Year went to a company that has never won the honor before, while the Wakeskate of the Year went to a company that may be the winningest company in the history of this category!

Rounding out the equipment categories, we award Nautique with the Innovation of the Year for their Integrated Steering Assist.

Although it seems like the choices are getting fewer by the year, we did have a winner in the full-length video division. The one that ended up winning the Video of the Year category was Formats from Taylor Hanley. When it comes to the Web Video of the Year, the readers spoke and they gave the award to XGames Real Wake featuring Guenther Oka.

This is our fifth year of bringing you two boat categories; Wakeboarding Boat of the Year and Wakesurfing Boat of the Year. This is the first year that we have had a split on these trophies. The Super Air Nautique G23 picked up its sixth Wakeboarding Boat of the Year award, but the Wakesurfing Boat of the Year. prize goes to the Malibu Wakesetter 23 LSV.
