EDMONTON, Alberta - For the first time in more than a decade, the world's top professional wakeboarders brought the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour action to Canada during the fourth stop of the 2016 tour at Shalom Park. With only one more event left in the series, the pressure was on for the high-flying athletes to go big and bring home top honors.
The level of competition was peaking at Shalom Park. Throughout the day, heavy hitters Cory Teunissen, Dean Smith and Tony Iacconi showcased their consistency, while rookie Nic Rapa impressed the crowd with the uncommonly-seen blind Pete Rose and other next-level maneuvers. However, in the end it was Mike Dowdy who once again took the top spot, but not without stiff competition in the final round.
The high-level riding that took place in Edmonton sets the scene for what's sure to be a dramatic final Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Generating its signature clean, consistent and controlled wakes, the sleek Supra Boats SA550 -- the official tow boat of the tour -- towed the riders with precision. The 2016 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour concludes in Indianapolis, Ind., on Aug. 6. For more information, visit SupraBoatsPWT.com.
