I just got my new wakeboarding magazine today and discovered hyperlite's new setup. I immediately went online to post and discovered there was already a thread going with about 40 posts to it. It seemed that there was a lot of good discussion about all the possible advantages and disadvantages. I think that I could learn to deal with the new system just fine so long as it is an improvement in the riding experience. The thing thats got me most concerned was the talk about binding release. In fact one guy went so far as to suggest that we need pressure release bindings. Up until this year.... in the process of learning to raley behind my boat... my bindings have never released in a crash but I am so glad that they did those couple times that I caught a bad edge. I snowbaoard and cannot imagine those things ever releasing. Potential for injury here?...bruised feet... overexteded spine...whiplash? I plan to ride till i am a very old dude so anything to reduce the risk of injury I am all for. I could use some new bindings for next year and was planning on going hyperlite... not sure now. Any other thoughts on this?

there is no reason you should want to come out of your bindings. coming out of your bindings...or one binding...is how you destroy your knee or get hit in the head with your board

Ive thought about this a lot recently, unfortunately there is no easy answer...

Ive caught a brutal edge probably 3 times this year when learning new stuff, luckily every time I ejected out of both bindings. I wear velcro bindings too so there is more give which means I do eject easier.

The best part about ejecting is Im fairly sure its saved me on at least 2 concussions, as last year when I had similiar falls but with my lace bindings, I didnt come out but I did get concussed. Properly concussed, not ouch I think maybe, but the what did I just do kind of concussed.

I have no doubt it is way better to come out of your bindings but I just dont see how to make a proper system for it.

I do know the velcro seems to be a pretty good system for me personally so far.

The thought of catching a proper raley cut edge with these new hype bindings actually makes me feel a little sick ha ha

When you eject out of both bindings it may save you a headache.... or it may not, what happens when that board with the sharp corners and metal fins nails you in the head? Hell I got 10 stitches in my eyebrow from a wakesurf board when we were going all of like 9mph. Not to mention what happens when only one leg comes out. If catching a raley edge makes you sick, think about catching an edge like that where you only loose one binding and the board gets yanks 90-180 degrees.....

I haven't come out of my bindings in years and personally I want to keep it that way so that I don't need to reconstruct my knee anytime soon
