My custom 230 NSS

This is my 1st post so hello guys !

I have a 2009 230 and nothing really is "bolt on" to this boat. To install the oem NSS you have to move the platform mounts and do some fiber/gelcoat.

I decided to design my own plates and have them laser cut. My design is made to install on 230 with a lower platform.

I used the same lenco as Nautique do and my control is the lenco switch with auto-retract feature.

That's sweet. Does NSS deploy on non surf side like all the other surf systems? So the port side would deploy to surf starboard, and vice versa?

I did not take more pictures! I was too excited to ride the setup and we were having too much fun hahaha
We did run with full weight. I have a total of 2200 lbs in the back and 1200lbs in bow. The wave is huge!!
I run easily 20ft behind the boat on a 4'8" board and I'm 205lbs.

Same thing as other surf system, NSS deploy on the "non-surf" side

When switching side the steering turns 1/4 turn !

Just thinking here...

What if you broke it on a 45* out towards the wake and maybe you could go further out with it and maybe give you a better wake without the extra stress on the back of your transom.

I calculated the force on my transom before going ahead. Water pressure at 15mph is 3,25psi following fluid density and speed formula.
My plate extend the boat by 2,25in which turns to 100 sq.in. So in total my plate supports around 300 lbs at 15mph.
I surf around 10-11 so the plate get less than 300lbs.
I have 8 bolts supporting my system but 5 of them are on the critical edges. If there was only these 5 bolts, they would take 60 lbs each which is pretty low. The transom is around 3\4 thick so it's capable of supporting this.

Lenco's are the 101-XDS which are 10in retracted length.

Okay. I was just curious if you could go further out with them and get a better wake. Of if It would kill it.

How's it act on a bit of a list? Like 7 degrees or so?

@Brandon, I have no idea. The further you go the more risk you have of bending the plate. Right now it only extends 2 1/4 which is the same as the original NSS.

Both of the instances you talk about were evenly weighted, have you tried listing slightly while deploying the gate? What does that do to the wave? Wondering since I've heard of people with gates having an equal sized/bigger/different wave listed slightly with gate while saving fuel compared to 100%slammed evenly/unlisted.

OK! Yeah I tried several setup that day.
Super ideal for the biggest/cleanest wave is full ballast on surf side, 3/4 full on non-surf side and always 3/4 of people in boat on surf side with NSS deployed full on non-surf side. This way the wave is a competition one !!

Depending how you want the wave (long or super steep), I move people in the bow.

As for fuel, it just depends on what type of wave you want. Riding a long wave I run 2700rpm and when we ride a steep wave i'm at 3000-3100rpm to keep around 11mph. I have a 1235 prop, just depends on what angle the boat is at.

Do you have any photos or info on the studs that anchor into your transom.
