I have plumbed in the ballast in a 2008 Xstar and have two 750s in the lockers in the rear run from the overflow on the stock port/starboard ballast and then 2 450s run off of the belly tank. I'm having some issues with the ballast timers though. When the tanks are full and the timers stop the pumps because the factory tanks are full they will then only run for about 10 seconds at a time afterward.

So, I don't want to reset the timers I would rather just bypass them and run the dash switches straight to the ballast pumps. I was hoping someone here may have some insight as far as if the switches are easy to get to under the dash and if they can be directly wired into? I could always do this with a rocker switch install if need be but thought it may be worth asking.

Thanks!

Thats exactly what I did on my 08 Xstar.. I removed the timers and ran new wires to the pumps directly from the switches.. The stock switches will handle up to 25 amps.. I've been running this system for 3 years and never had a problem.. I put a guard on the switches so you don't accidentally hit them with your knee.. You have no protection so you have to remember to turn them off..

get on mc teamtalk and PM tr6coug. he reprograms the stock timers to anything you want, there are some good aspects about keeping the timer setup so you dont burn up the pumps. I've been rocking the 20 minute setup on all my pumps and its worked beautifully.

His website is http://www.wakeblaster.com/

Not sure why you need someone else to re-program your timers. I've got a 2008 X also and I followed the Jabsco procedure and set mine to the max allowed (20 minutes). I fill an #1100 using my starboard tank overflow no problem. This is what the guide says:

• Obtain correct tank size
• Pump fills at approx 10 GPM
• Disconnect all battery from main boat connection for at least 30 seconds. Disconnect plug between
pump and the Active Intelligence box until programming is complete. Reconnect power from battery
and immediately start toggling switch to enter program mode.
• Push toggle to the fill position and toggle between fill and drain 5 times stopping in the off position each
time (fill-off-drain-off-fill-off, Etc.) Do not rush. This should be done in a slow methodical 1 second at
each position pace. Unit will blink when you have entered program mode and the number of blinks will
indicate the current fill time in 30 second intervals.
• To increase fill time - toggle between off and the fill position, each toggle increases the fill time by 30
seconds.
• To decrease fill time - toggle between off and drain position, each toggle decreases by 30 seconds.
• Increments are 30 seconds (approx 3.5 gallons per toggle) with minimum fill time of 30 seconds and
maximum of 20 minutes.
• Reconnect power to pump and run pump in drain cycle until pump stops automatically. This must be
done to reset unit to zero after programming.

If I remember right the "active intelligence box" is in the port locker on the panel closest to the cockpit. There's a connector there you unplug.

I looked at that TT thread. That was for 2007 and earlier timers. You're in luck because you have a 2008 boat. It has the newer timers that you can program using the procedure above.

Now lets see a picture of your star. A little boat porn would help this thread.
