this is a 2002 DD Wakesetter. To me this looks like the Diamond Hull, but the Malibu spec sheet on the Malibu Owners forum says that year model WS has the SV23 "Wake" Hull, so I am confused.

I have seen some of the comparison photos of Diamond vs Wake but those are later model years. Does the big cutout section (half-moon shape) above the chine mean anything? thanks for any info

Also, for an early 2000's direct drive to have the diamond hull the trunk would hang out over the back of the actual hull bottom ala the LXi hull. like this.

thanks for all the input. Boarder 42 put a link to a pic on the Malibu site; that is the pic that is confusing me (only looked at 100 times); the pic of the yellow WS at the top of this thread has that downward taper. On the Malibu site here is the quote just above the Wake vs Diamond comparison photo:

"The Difference - On a boat with a wake hull, the outer edge of the hull flattens off, while on a diamond hull it tapers down"

What am I missing?

If you look at your picture it goes just about horizontal as the bottom meets the hull side. In the second picture it clearly goes past horizontal and point back towards the bottom of the picture. So vitally flat vs. rolling over.
