I'm working on riding blind and landing blind but for some reason, the boat wants to pull the back edge of the board around and out from under me!?!? I end up catching an edge if I don't bail out or try to salvage a nasty crash. Is this a fin issue, a board issue, a rider issue, all of the above? What do you all think? Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks!

Don't edge so hard away on your toes, land on your toes but as you start to ride away transition your weight onto your heel edge. It takes the tension off the rope and allows you to pass the handle once you've completed the blind(wrapped) landing.

How about once I've landed? This is when the board scoots out from under me even if I'm just riding blind. It feels like there's too much weight on my heel when I'm riding blind, as if I need to flatten out and edge out TS away from the boat. Does that sound right?

The handle should be against the flat of your back/butt, your should be bent over with your butt sticking back out, and you should have your weight over your toes. I found it helped to go into the trough and practice this awkward position first. That way, you can keep two hands on the handle (cuffed), and slowly let your front hand off...when you start to slide out regrab with the front hand. As you practice, you'll get more and more confy. You can then start doing inside out b/s 180s at the start of your run to reinforce that position. Then, take it to the wake. Trying to learn it going wake to wake will likely be hit and miss. If you learn the foundations, you'll soon have it dialed.

Well think about it, the rope is pulling you that way. Sounds to me like you aren't getting into correct body position. You have to commit and make sure you you lead the trick with your eyes/head. You want to generate slack with the rope by pulling through the small of your back, landing with a tight rope will cause you to get pulled over every time. Remember, Pop, pull, pass(in this case land blind).

I'll give this a try on Friday. Looking forward to a couple of back slaps! Nothing like physical abuse to reinforce different behaviors! Thanks guys!

NICE! A classic Dykman to blind. I love watching him do that into the flats.

It's compressed with QT h264, you'll need QT7 to play it.

Sweet. I got the video to work. Thanks for posting it up on slow-mo. Did some work on riding blind this weekend and body position is definitely what I need to work on. Lots of thanks to BCH and Big Heavy!
