I should be finishing up the wiring on the new flybridge stereo set up tomorrow and be ready to start tuning. Set up is:

JVC Marine KD-R85MBS Deck
PPI 900.5 Amp
Polk DB651 6.5 inboats
Polk DB1240 12 inch SVC sub in a 1.8 Cu foot box tuned to 36Hz

Inboats on channels 1-4 and the sub is on the sub channel

So the starting points I used in the past are:
inboats: filter on Hi-pass set to 90 htz running gains around 35-50%(starting at 0 and working up)

Sub: filter set to low-pass at 100htz. Gain to about 50%(starting at 0 and working up)

Amp also has a subsonic filter for the sub, where does that get set to? Also to I adjust the sub tuning for the 36hz tuned port on the box.

I have always used wet sounds stuff in the past so the stuff on this PPI is a little different to me. Any help and advice with this equipment is appreciated.

Just note, the Hz numbers and hash marks on the PPI amps are typically inaccurate and way off.

subsonic would be just under 36htz if thats what the box is tuned to i believe. trust tige mike when he says dont trust the dial markings. part of the reduced cost in the ppi amps is not as good of crossovers.

If the markings are wrong or not accurate how do you adjust the filters? The gains I have set by sound to balance the music.

But with the filters how do you know if they are in the right place? I read one article that says if the hi-pass is to high it will sound "tinny". Is that correct? How do you know with the low-pass on the sub and with the subsonic?

By time it sounds tinny, you are likely way too high.
