WAKERIDERZ is a San Diego based organization that is focused on uniting all watersports enthusiasts to a common cause of preserving our access to our public lakes, bays & waterways.
WAKERIDERZ HAS 4 MAIN OBJECTIVES:
Objective #1: To create a sense of community and to have a political voice for our concerns. WAKERIDERZ was established because of the need for our local watersports community to join up to preserve our rights to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer. Whether you wakeboard, waterski, wakeskate or tube being able to enjoy more of our hometown lakes would be a dream come true.
There are possibilities to expand waterways for enjoyment, but nothing will happen unless there is a strong sense of community. We as a community need to realize that we vote, pay taxes, live, work & play here in San Diego County. We need to voice our concerns to the city to make sure that we are getting equal treatment to our public lands & waterways.
Objective #2: Ensuring the water district allows water contact on as many days as there are for fishing and general boating on El Capitan. Also negotiating to keep the entire lake open to water contact including the north arm.
Objective #3: To lobby the water district & city council to look at options for opening up other reservoir(s) to relieve congestion on El Capitan.
Possible options could be:
Lake Murray
Lake Hodges
Lake Henshaw
Lower Otay Reservoir
Sweetwater Reservoir
Objective #4: To be involved in the decision making process of how San Vicente lake is set-up & zoned for watersports activities. Ex. Ski course, slow pull zone, directions of driving.
Membership is FREE, but the organization needs people to volunteer ideas and time to begin the formation process.
To become a member you need to provide:
1. Full legal name
2. San Diego County home address
3. phone number
4. email address
5. 1 idea you think is good for the group.
I WILL NOT sell or give out your personal information. I will be creating a contact list to send out monthly newsletters, event information and to show our members are from San Diego County.
If you’re not from the San Diego County region you can still join up with the WAKERIDERZ, eventually we will be branching out to our global watersports family!
