we picked up an 86 supra comp at the end of the summer and a friend built a pretty decent looking tower for us. it was made out of steel though and is a little heavier than i assume most towers. was wondering if anyone knows of any problems this may cause..thanks

My friend had one made out of steel also. There's one spot on the river with power lines crossing it. If you were touching the tower when we went under it you'ld get a little jolt.

My buddy and I built a tower for our boat out of steel. We used 2" square tubing. Its been great. Over the winter I've been in the process of cutting it up and putting hinges on it so it folds. We've gone under many power lines and never had a jolt. So far we've had no problems it's been pretty rigid.

The only problem you may have with the heavier steel tower is cracks in your gelcoat from the weight. I know people who had this problem even with lighter towers.

The difference between these two towers: one guy is an "unbelievable metal fabricator" and one guy is a 60% apprentice carpenter

The Legend (to this day I question if meeting him was all a dream). I got a pull behind this boat and it worked perfectly (2" receiver hitch up top).
