But, you can't go wrong with either.

They are about the same from a loudness standpoint but the 485's sound better. If all you care about is being loud save a few bucks and get the Pro-80's. For me it's more about SQ.

Sound Q. in the open environment of a boat! That's almost funny Mike!

But in all seriousness.... the 485's do sound soooo good!

Pro-80's will be more flexible with your tower mounting. Due to the curvature of my tower, I had to make a spreader bracket to mount my 485 on my Titan tower.

The guys at wetsound will tell you that two pro 485's are the best you can get.I have them hooked up to a 1000 watt mtx amp and they sound pretty nice.Upload

The Pro 80's are def. loud. But I still think the Pro 485's are worth spending the dough on. I have a pair of them and there is nothing else like them

On the Illusion tower it looks like you can only mount the 485's on top of the tower. Is this correct? I'd hate to cut my bimini for speakers...

For the Illusion. To do the 485's, you have to go on top. You can go under on the crossbar but they would be hanging about face level. So 2 pairs of 60X's are the most popular for the Illusion. You can also do a single 80X. Or a pair of 80X with the regular 80's with the swivel's on the cross bar.

Two 485s on top with a ws420 and you cannot go wrong. I can crank them up when we ride and turn down the horns when we tie up. UploadUpload

Tim how about the new amps?
