Looking to go to New Melones lake to do some camping. I've never been before, so looking to see if anyone here can point me in the right direction as far as where to stay with a motorhome thats 32 feet. I'm looking to be on the water. I've been looking and I think Glory hole has some sites for motorhomes that are on the water, but I can't really tell. Any help would be great.

right now the lake is low so no real sites on the water. You might look at Tuttletown, I've found it has more shade.

The camping is away from the shoreline for sure. Bring an EZ-up or something for shade.

I got a spot close to the shore but the level may be low so I might be walking a bit to get to my boat. but I'm still leaving it in the water. I will take pics for you.

I'm going the weekend of Aug 10. There are still some motorhome sites in Glory hole left. From the map they look to be first from the water.

glory hole is pretty low. i think the lower launch ramp is open. last year it was completely submerged along with the lower parking lot at glory hole launch ramp. we're camping at ironhorse all weekend as well. we usually stay in the big oak area but sites were booked. this is our first time staying in the iron horse area. jarrod is right......bring a canopy.

Went camping there June 30 & July 1st. Stayed in Glory Hole/Ironhorse. Definitely bring something for shade. It was windy on Saturday so the water was OK/slightly choppy. Sunday was much better. We had sites that were overlooking the water. We had to walk/hike a hill to reach the water. It wasnt too bad but it was a bit of a trek. Were going again in September. Have fun!

All I can say after this weekend at Melones is that I feel very fortunate to live 30 minutes from the Delta. We found some pretty decent water early Saturday and Sunday morning but it sure did not last for long. Had some douchebag take the BIGGEST power turn I have ever seen in my life (the guy seriously went around 50 yards in a circle completey around us around us rather than stopping and turning on a dime....that was a now one for me). I think I am done wakeboarding on Melones unless I can get up at 7am. That means I might have to drink less the night before and that is a sacrifice I don't know I can make. Regardless, had a great time camping there this weekend. A canopy is a must depending on where you stay. Going again 8/10-8/12 and looking forward to it. T

New Melones is a nice lake, but for me Don Pedro is much better. Better water at Don. NM has no shade and not as many fingers to explore and the ones that you find past the second bridge are packed with other boats. Lake McClure has more shade, yet it does get windy to, but there are no one on that lake. We were just there last weekend and it was fun. Still Don Pedro is better for me.
