Fuel pressure issue? HELP!

my friends 99 air nautique runs fine when it's first started. go skiing or wakeboarding then come back and let the boat sit for an hour or so. We will go out again and it starts up but when we floor it to plane out it will stall out and die. If we let it sit longer it will run fine. Anyone ever have an issue like this? If so what's wrong and how do we go about fixing it? Thanks for your time.

start with the fuel filter.
