Cheap Weight

Just curious what some people use for weight instead of sacs and ballast. I've used old lead weights that are used to balance wheels on cars and buckets of sand. Of course I've also used a boat load of people. If anyone has any other ideas let's hear them.

THe best guys i've ever seen ride with my own eyes rocked a 80 something stars and stripes that looked like a free weight gym on the floor....dumbells, 45 lb plates ect.

we'll put anything heavy in the boat... sand, lead, sacs, girls, guys, anything...hell when the wake is really good its usually cuz we have all of that plus all the water sittin in the hull from the bilge not working...hahaha

not much, but i threw some cinderblocks in my ski locker.....there easy to move around, and there everywhere, but there messy not that heavy, and dont weigh all that much

Sand is cheap. get the commercial grade bags.

fat sacs are not that expensive. There a guy on here named like Ken who owns a place called bullet lines and me and a bud got 2 650lb. sacs from him for like 120. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! sand bags, weights, and lead eventually break stuff and look shotty in the boat. Make fat friends who like to be on boats but dont like to ride

I used to use big tupperware totes and a 5 gal bucket to fill and empty. Actually I wish I could fill and empty my sacs as fast as I could with that 5gal bucket.

Man it seems like free weights could be a liability. Not sure I would want those things in my boat if I was in really choppy water.

We had a 2001 Super Air 210 Team with 3 850 pound bags, another 500 pound bag, around 600 pounds in PVC pipes full of lead, and 14 people on board. Took FOREVERRRRRRRRRRR to plain out! Thing looked like it was going to sink. No wonder the boat went through three motors.

I went to a washer manufacturer and bought the scrap steel they punch out of the middle. 30 cents $NZ per kilo. Then sprayed it in WD40 & double plastic bagged it in 25 pound bags. Cheap mans pop bags.

i used to work for an environmental/geotechnical consulting firm that did concrete testing. they made concrete cylinders and busted them to test the strength of the mix. if they passed they threw the extras away. really clean cheap and heavy!

5 gallon buckets filled with concrete, outdoor trash cans filled half way with water.

Open your bilge plug for a little while.

We used to take two big ice chests and hold them under water. Then two people would pull them into the boat. Fatsacs definitely work better.

$3 60 lb 'tube sand' bags from the local home supply shop. A little cumbersome to move around but they fit under the seats and are dirt cheap and get the job done!

Free weights are at play it again sports. I wouldn't buy them new, when you can get them for SUPER cheap used. You don't care if they are chipped. Repaint them if you want. What you are after is the weight, not the asthetics.

One of my favorite setups was my bro's 2001. He had about 600lb in steel plates under the back seat and 300 lbs of stereo shiz and concrete under the bow. We'd throw a 600 behind the box if we had light crew. but with 4 or 5 it was /ready to hit off the trailer.

Weight is weight. Load it up and shred it!

I used to put free weights in my fishing boat to weight it down and filled two coolers with water. When I sold that boat I had four rust rings on the carpet in the compartments. 2 -45's and 2 - 35's. Wrap your weights with a towel or something.

Water bed tubes.... I have one under my bow seats. About 100lb hidden it runs around the whole front end. I also fit two sacks next to it. I think it cost me 10-15$

I use 50lb bags of play rocks like you find on a playground up in the bow of my prostar. You can get them at home depot for $3.11 a bag. I bought six. Figured it would be easier to clean up than sand if they busted, the bags they come in are very strong though.
