Does anyone with a G Series or pickle fork style boat use a rock guard on their trailer? I had one with my last boat but it was a traditional style bow. I have a dually truck with mud flaps and rock tamers but I'm still getting a few rock chips. Thinking the smaller version like this might work.
Well this one is just a picture I found on google but it's call the Bow Buddy. I think it's the one I'm going to go with. Was hoping to hear some feedback from people with non traditional bows.
I would think a rock could still chip gelcoat thru clear vinyl if hit hard enough.
I looked these up....cant see a website to actually buy, only pictures..smart setup, think they may have gone out of business tho
I just purchased one of these and it worked great on our 13 hour tow down each way to Lake Powell and back.
My boat is pretty much all black so i was pretty worries about getting bouncing rocks or debris.
^ I made one similar to this with some angle bar & flat bar along with 4 truck style mud flaps. More protection than rocktamers and 1/4 of the cost. May also be an option for you or mod your current rocktamer to have more flaps.
Here is pic of the towtector hard to to see it though defiantly protects from rocks. If you are towing long distances use packaging Strech Film under your boat cover it stops the chaffing on marks on your gel coat.
