Hey everybody! I haven't been on here much this winter, but I trust everyone is doing well and getting along. Ha! So . . . I'm redoing the system in my trailblazer ss. I installed a new headunit a while ago (a Pioneer 2400 BT) and just added a sub ( a JL Audio HO112RG-W3v3) and an amp to push it (a 500W Rockford). The sub absolutely pounds, but it completely overwhelms the stock speakers, which are as follows: 2 tweeters in the dash, midranges in the front doors (one of which is blown), and full ranges in the rear doors, all powered by the factory installed bose amp. From research I've done, people haven't had much luck running aftermarket speakers with the bose amp, so I'm planning to tear both it out and the 6 stock speakers and start fresh. So .. . does anyone have any recommendations for tweeters in the dash and speakers for the doors? This is my first foray into car (as opposed to marine) audio, so I'm not quite certain what components will achieve a nice, balanced system to go along with my sub. I was thinking of getting tweeters for the dash in the 50 watt RMS range, a two channel amp to drive them, and speakers for the 4 doors in the 100 watt RMS range, and a 4 channel amp to drive them. Or, I could skip the 2 channel amp for the tweeters and just power them with my headunit (22 watt RMS) but I don't know if that'll be enough. So . . . if anyone has any advice on tweeters and speakers for my application I'd be grateful to hear it. And get ready to ride!
