watching those JUNE $TWTR $40 Calls again....twitter is getting hammered today...on no news I can find. Market makers looking to pin this to $35 by Friday ( near max pain)

selling $FB puts here Jan 30 $71.50, $2.15, just 1 contract. this selloff is silly.

buying 2k shares $PLUG @ 2.54.....for a swing.

What do you see thats attractive about PLUG?

$PLUG is a hack stock, lol. Garbage company but daytraders love the volitilty and it follows technicals. with that said. it's near 52 wk low's, and WAY oversold. due for a bounce.

whats your plan for $Plug adam?

tgt of $3, with a stop @ 2.34.

The last bar my friends is a bearish engulfing candle. ****.

That means 200 day MA will get taken out, along with my trend channel. may buy those puts tomorrow

$CLF looks like a great Bollinger band breakout on the daily. Holding cash for now though. might need to average down on $BABA

Holding off on buying puts. I think the $SPY tests the 200 ( possibly ) and bounces. I dont' want to hold puts going into long weekend, and with earnings seasons starting. will more than likely hold cash to add to my longs.

Also today is Op-ex...

lots of buying at open....my guess is lots of short covering into 3 day weekend.

@ nacho...$spy holding support at 150 day. if it breaks on volume, i'm buying puts for a daytrade.

max pain: I don't know. We've established lower highs and working on lower lows. Last move down was 10% over 28 days. 10% from the 12/29 high put us at 1900 on SPY. my best guess. if it holds there, we'd be in business

@ Nacho...agreed...the VIX is up around 22/23. Oil seems to be finding a base...for now, lol. this week was a sign to me it's going down further...that huge pop, got sold into hard.

@adam, you think energy co's will get hit after the commodity rebounds? I'm thinking we'll have a few months before it impacts companies, so can't hold the companies for while. only play is commodity based ETFs.

@ nacho.....I think your spot on with energy companies.

VMW long, also thinking GOOG long,but thats an expensive play. I'm guessing MNKD will see a jump sometime in the next month. NVDA in my opinion is trading high but it has been hovering at 20 for quite some time. Thanks for the UCO/UGAZ looks, I dont usually play energy.

@jwag.....be careful with ugaz or any 3x etf. Nat gas is called the widow maker for a reason. There's much less streesful ways to make money.

$PLUG...stopped out at $2.6 for +$120, I try not to let winners turn to losers.
$BABA finally coming back today...should get back over $100...tgt still 104 ish. will re buy if it breaks $100 again before earnings. will play options over earnings.

@ Nacho $NFLX had a huge increase in new subscribers, along with a beat.....sent it sky rocketing last nite.

I dont' trade a whole lot of option strategies..due to not having the time to study diff combos. Sell lots of puts and covered calls. will short/long buying calls and puts but that's abt it. here's a cool site

selling puts could be profitable at these levels. I'd expect to get good premium on the puts as many are long puts for downside protection. Keep it tight on time (<60 days) and you should make some $$. Even if its put to you, should be good level to enter the market long term. do a couple different strikes so you don't have a bunch at one level

bought a few contracts: spy puts Jun 30. 200 at 6.89

those puts should be looking good at the open.

my $VNRBP is up abt $5k in the last 2 weeks. it's a long term hold for me...monthly dividend income, so not to concerned abt share price. was eying their common ( $VNR) divi yield was over 20% just last wk. still hovering around 15%.

Its a signal to me that the overall mkt is calling for a bottom in oil ( or were very close)

hoping a few companies miss and push things lower. don't really have a target as I don't think the technicals are really at play

$BABA puts....got KILLED, lol. Looks like I'm the owner of 100 shars come Friday own @ 95.70.....not bad IMO. Earnings were great IMO....the massive selloff is un warranted due to a miss on rev number.....rev was up 40% year over year...instead of 50%. Everything else was a beat.....

a $BABA close over $90 will feel like a win for me. calling it now...over $100 in 6 months.

u buying the ETN $OIL? I hate those for long term holds.....contango erodes those...not as bad as the 3x...but it's there. I think oil recovery is a long term process.
Nothing has changed in supply/demand for oil to spike...it's up on news ( rig count) I'm watching the weekly inventories for my entry. But we're near the bottom....I dont' think you can lose if your holding long term. we need all cap ex cuts to actually happen.....if oil rebounds to quickly, we'll be back in the same spot.

close out some more weekly $FB puts I sold Monday...right before the ECB/ Greek announcement....total luck. Wanted out before $TWTR reports tomorrow.

popped up on my scanner for abnormally high volume, and big gainer on the day...closing at or near the high of the day. they typically gap up the next day.
I checked the daily and saw the HUGE volume back on 1/29...another good sign. some more searching saw some news that Angelina Jole mentioned their tests in an interview. another +++. high short interest/days to cover...potential for massive short squeeze. seeing that today.

Should have watched ECIG..I'm +$3000.

Jumped on lending club yesteday when it dropped 17% for no reason. Boom up $90o

ECIG was like $32 a share. They had a HUGE drop down to like .18 cents. It's going to swing up tomorrow. I'll likely make another $1200 tomorrow alone.

A stock like that can be too easily manipulated. a small chat room can move that stock 20-30% ( I've seen this stuff happen ) all it takes is a few million dollars. is it legal...prolly not, but I've never seen it investigated? Hedge funds do it all the time.

it's well above my risk appetite. It's a low capital investment...so I can see the appeal. some guys swear by them....not me....

but profit is profit......gotta take chances to make money but I do it for fun...the money is just a perk.

with that said, I've been back testing ways to go long on crude....I still think we have more downside to crude in the next 3-6 weeks. Plan is to short $DWTI, 4 sells....100 shares each sell. total of abt 55-60k. it's a 3x ETN...even with borrowing costs, I'll make money on the contango, just like selling options. where contango is my theta burn...in this case x3. by adding to my short I wont' limit my gains to 100%. but goal is 100%.

It's kinda confusing, but in theory and modeling , it works.

Get some books Red. Be careful about anything you read in a magazine or on the internet. If it relies on advertising to make money, you have to be skeptical. There is no magic and there are no gurus. Be careful about anything that you read that wants to sell you something specific. Once you learn the jargon, it's all actually pretty basic. Not rocket science. You're just trying to figure out what other traders perceive to be a good company. It doesn't matter if it is or not. You only have to figure out what others are thinking. The only hard part is separating smart trading from gambling. Limiting risk and defeating your own psychological weaknesses are the most important parts. If you are the type of person who can be up huge at the casino and still walk out broke at the end of the day, you probably shouldn't trade stock. I personally like the Alexander Elder books to start with.

@ Red, I've taken some trading classes in the past. I don't read books...lol. but self taught a lot of how I trade.

start simple with moving averages, understand support/resistance, volume/price relationships,

I also like Fib retracements/projections, mac-d, Bollinger bands, and candlestick formations.

but the last 6 months or so I've moved more into trading options.

bought 200 $DWTI @ 99.50 today for a swing to $120+

oil report was bearish....and crude went up??

anyone watching anything else?

i'm still very bullish on $TWTR/$FB. I own $BABA ( at a loss) still but would not recommend buying until after the March 18 lockup.

a few I'm watching $KMI, $EOG, $LNKD ( I like this but its very expensive), $W, $JD, and $CLDN.
