I've ordered a set of Abyss Starfish LEDs, link is below.

My question is, where is the best place to mount them. In researching a good mounting spot, I've found that I have easy access on the outer most points on my transom. This spot is outside of my swim platform mounts and essentially behind the hard ballast tanks in the engine compartment. The boat is a 2010 Super Air Nautique. I'm hoping I won't have a gap in the light in the middle of the boat if I mount there.

Is it recommended to position the lights like a foot or so in from the sides of the boat? Or should I be ok there? Appreciate your help!

The closer you mount them together the brighter it will be in the center of the light pattern closer to the boat. Having them towards the edges will give you a bit wider coverage though. Honestly, there is no rule about where to mount them, just put them where you have easy access to drill the holes and run the wires. You shouldn't see any "gap" in the light between them honestly, and if there is one it'll be so small that the swim platform will cover it anyways.

Don't mount them behind your FAE! Should be obvious, but it has been over looked by others, especially if you don't have one yet.

I mounted our 3 on a plate that attaches to the wakeplate. puts it an extra 1 ft behind the hull which makes it that much brighter behind the swim platform. Also, no holes in the hull. Custom drain plug was made with wiring going through it with 6" tag and waterproof connector. Powers underwater LEDs.

Not saying you should do this or it will work on yours. Just giving you ideas to think about.
