some buddies of mine want to build a kicker and so i figured i would check on here for some good tips. i have asked around town but i know they are some obstacle building ninjas on here as well so please share with me your knowledge.

what dimensions/measurements? materials/lumber? simple yet specific instructions on how to build.

we aren't trying to build something big, just wanna get booted. if you have built a kicker, just let me know how you built it and what you built it with. thanks you guys!

yea il be at MSC!

im not sure how much wood i used but let me drag some pics from my facebook

i have no plans i built this just from my brain when i had a broken leg and was bored... this is for bmx bikes not wakeboards, but im sure if i floated it you could LAUNCH monster high on a wakeboard!

^^^ i basically just laid 3 peices of ply wood on flat ground and cut the curve like above.
to cut a perfect curve i just staked a piece of rope in the ground and put a pen on the end of the rope and just dragged the pen across the wood and kept the rope tight... after cutting these 3 pieces out i made a replica of each one. then just drilled 4 foot long 2/4s across. i made some reinforcements below, like diagonal boards and whatnot cause its so tall, but yea i think everything is pretty self explanitory to put the rest together... the wood i had was hell to bend but luckily i just parked the cart on top. two peices of thinner plywood stacked would be ideal and easier to bend.

By BMX standards that is pretty mellow.

Here's what we started building this weekend, waiting on 55gal barrels to finalize. Will post some pics when we start hitting it.

How many 55gal barrels are you using and what will the placement be?

I've got 6 barrels, may only use 4, depends on the final layout. We're making some adjustments now to lengthen the kicker and allow for a mellower transition.

Man I wonder how 4 or even 6 barrels will stabilize this thing when you get someone going 18mph up it, very interested to see how this pans out.

That was my first reaction. That first pic looks more like a wall than a kicker. That being said, I don't know crap about building one, so don't listen to me. Would love to see how it turns out. They are super fun!

When it comes to kickers, less is always more.

A 8ft kicker would need about a 30 foot face. I am serious.

^^ He's right... This is 24ft end to end so a little more up the face. But if you don't have the dangle angle...

Goodnight knees...
