SO MUCH FOR NOT TAKING CHANCES DURING THE SEASON. this kid rocks ! he is pushing the sport i like that.CONGRATS HARLEY.

Protected. When going at something for the first time you should always wrap it, as it is somewhat easier and safer. The more experience you get with a trick, you can move to not wrapping it as much.

OMG! that was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! I am totally in shock, Bill Did he land more than one cause that looks like it was on LOCK!

A-Dub seriously you think people should learn wrapped first?
Old     (bbr)      Join Date: Apr 2002       06-29-2010, 1:48 PM Reply
All I can say is WOW! That kid is on a totally different level than anyone else in the sport. He is truly an amazing rider.

What is the idea behind learning something wrapped before passing the handle? It certainly doesn't make it any easier cause it totally changes the trick.
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       06-29-2010, 1:48 PM Reply
Only when dealing with a trick like that of the KGB

A-Dub

okay I follow you. in that case I would Agree I learn KGB and Tootsie rolls wrapped first.
Old     (mattgettel)      Join Date: Jan 2009       06-29-2010, 1:50 PM Reply
i'm still not sure what wrapped looks like. Like wrap a gift?
Old     (stephan)      Join Date: Nov 2002       06-29-2010, 1:50 PM Reply
A-dub, really? I find that wrapping completely changes the trick. I wouldn't say its easier, just different. As for being safer, I don't really follow. How is it safer?

Props to Harley for continuing to do some crazy stuff on the water.
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       06-29-2010, 1:53 PM Reply
My joke was either that bad, or went over some heads. No, I do not think wrapping is "easier" than passing, especially once you learn to pass the handle I think that is easier. I apologize for the derailment.

Matt, it's when they pull the handle around one side of the hip, and grab the handle behind their back, thus when in the air a handle pass is eliminated by just unwinding the rope.

thats unreal. makes it look like its nothing! harley for prez

Not only does wrapping change the whole trick, but the approach is totally different.

thanks A-dub. copy that.

so when you wrap you obviously eliminate 1 handle pass but does it help you rotate faster too?
Old     (Bill_Dad)      Join Date: Apr 2010       06-29-2010, 2:51 PM Reply
Hi Andy,

Harley landed 2 bs9's in that set plus four 9's. He was going back out to do some more bs9's hopefully.

That is sick. Nice use of a dumper, it appears, as well.

That was nastyyy... sick Harley!

Looks like the driver tripped the wake a little bit to help him with the height but still was sick nonetheless. Clean as hell too.
Old     (kyle_L)      Join Date: Mar 2010       06-29-2010, 3:47 PM Reply
Adam, I think that is just how the guy was operating the camera. I thought the same thing at first but after I watched it a few times, it seemed more of an effect by the person filming.
On a side note, look how much longer he has to wait for his pop when doing a handle pass vs wrapped bs spin. The wrap makes a HUGE difference in this trick.

No cheers from the boat?! Kids a machine!

Kyle, watch the water churned up from the prop... it leaves a noticable angle of the path the boat took. My dad did this back when we had our X-7 to make a slightly bigger wake for me when starting to learn mobes.

i take it all back I think harley will get a 12 this year. I dont think there is any doubt now. Harley is the greatest spinner our sport has ever seen

Why would anyone hate him??? The kid is by far the best rider on the planet and he is barely old enough to drive a car

HOLY ROCKAMOLY! Insane. I stick with what I said; he'll stick a 12 in the next few months.

has anyone else done this before? I know it has been done wrapped, but what about all handle passes?

congrats. made it look too easy.

Harley is the first to land a w2w bs9 and the first to be able to spin 5 nines as well.

We do the same turn to help learning moves. Some call it a cheat, but I still look at it as a legitimate.

I'd rather see a wrapped "grabbed" bs 9 then all handlepasses... but w2w bs 9 is better than a doubleup imo but enough with the comparisons THAT WAS SICK I QUIT!!!
Old     (hyperlite)      Join Date: May 2009       06-30-2010, 4:26 AM Reply
yeah i agree. Not taking anything away from HC but Kyles is the best looking one style wise. Rathy's is as well.
Old     (kyle_L)      Join Date: Mar 2010       06-30-2010, 6:11 AM Reply
Lee, you can't compare a wrapped vs handle pass trick style wise. Obviously if you wrap up you are going to have an easier chance of going for the grab and make the trick look better. I think Kyle's looks more like a one trick wonder (just kind of spinning until he hits the water) where Harley's looks like something he can get consistent. With 5 9s now, he is definitely going to have a w2w 10 in there soon.

That is sick. Wasn't Harf the first to have landed five different nines? If doing them off the double up counts, then I think he was the first. That aside, Harley is killing it lately.

i dont think danny has landed 5 nines of the wake Harley is definately the only person to land 5 nines wake to wake

Bill is correct, Harley is flying into the rocrd books as first person to land 5 w2w 9's all handle pass.

This is amazing. The more I watch it the more impressed i get and I can't believe that the sport has come this far in such a short amount of time. Harley is one of the top new innovators of the sport and I think he will be the first to land a BS 10… Just an idea for trick of the year. Keep up the amazing riding Harley
Old     (jsweat)      Join Date: Apr 2007       07-03-2010, 8:10 AM Reply
rathy landed a BS 10 last year for trick of the year. Although it was a wrapped BS 10 you can say that he will be the first to land it. However he will more than likely be the first to land a handle pass BS 10. Harley you are absolutely killing it right now, keep up the hard work.
Old     (Bill_Dad)      Join Date: Apr 2010       07-03-2010, 5:28 PM Reply
look how much the sport has progressed since last year, a ts9 hs7 and bs5 ts7 whirly5 crow5 and a pete kgb and slide good both ways was enough to win.
now you need more than 2 mobe 5 tricks and and a bunch of other mobes and at least 2 9's and at least a bs7 or heel or toe 7 to win. the level of riding has taken a huge step.
Rusty definately throwing a ts9 and swts9 at worlds last year made Harley go out and get consistent on sw ts 9's. Rathy throwing bs7's made everbody put in bs7 in there runs. There is a whole new generation of riders out there that are pushing the sport to new levels now, its scary hahaha

I haven't seen Rathy's BS 10... was it off the DU? I would have to say that Harley would be able to land the BS 10 W2W soon. "NOT Wrapped"

Rathy, Rusty, Clifford, and Harf are all very possible canitadates for bs 10 all handlepassed.
Old     (FloppyRider)      Join Date: Jun 2010       07-04-2010, 10:48 PM Reply
Thanks for the vids. Amazing... There are so many great riders out there today.. Its hard to say. I hope to see all of them attempt the bs 10. Its so crazy because its only just in the last few years have riders started pushing the boundries with the spins. Parks of corse has been pushing boundries for a while now but then you have Harf with his 12 and now rusty with the w2w 10... It seems like everyone has just decided to pick it up a notch and now everyones doing them. Its amazing to see this sport grow and I can't wait to see where it ends up..."not that it will ever end" I do want to say that I am a little surprised that the spins didn't happen a lot sooner than what they did... I look at snowboarding "pipe" with sean white... doin 12 and 14 its insane... I think and hope that our sport gets that far. I'm sure a lot of wakeboarders would love to see it progress to that. And MAN help us all if sean white decided to become a wakeboarder! lol
